I suppose that this is the AIRFIX / MPC plastic version of Darth Vader's TIE Fighter? Did you assemble it yourself or commissioned a modeller to do it for you? Like I mentioned above, this kit is from the 70s, so its either an AMT/ERTL or MPC/ERTL kit. I've never seen an Airfix SW model in those days.
I painted and assembled the whole thing myself. back then I had the time, patience and the tools. Not any more... ;D
I also have 2 completed X-wing models but they didn't age as gracefully as Vader's TIE and they're in pieces now
My other surviving pieces are a Shuttle Tydirium(very badly painted), and an uncompleted MF(to scale with the X-Wing & TIE)

Thanks PS-A. That definitely give me some clear-cut answer about its size. It's rather small but the details on it are most impressive. Yes the details are very impressive, which makes it that much more difficult to paint.
Its not that big, but in order to produce the other bigger vehicles in reasonable sizes I suppose they have to keep the smaller vehicles, well smaller. The MF I have is almost 15 inch across, and my Shuttle Tydirium has a horizontal wing span of 15 inches, ans stands 11 inches tall with the wings folded. If they make the TIE any bigger the rest of the vehicles will have to be gigantic!

In the 1970's right up to the 1980's MPC/ERTL released STAR WARS model kits for the US Market, and we got some of these in Malaysia. Therefore logically your Darth Vader's TIE Fighter is a MPC release.
However, in the early 1980's STAR WARS Model Kits sold in Malaysia were either released by AIRFIX (for the UK Market) or by MPC/ERTL. AMT/ERTL only came into the picture in the 1990's when these kits were re-released.

Plo Strax-Avix, do you consider the Fine Molds X-Wing as an overall improvement over the AMT/ERTL X-Wing Fighter?

Wouldn't know. Never put together a Fine Mold model before. Sold my Fine Mold X-Wing without even opening it. Got it as part of a package when buying something else.
In fact I haven't put together ANY model since the 70s ;D

So that was what happened to the X-Wing that you purchased from ....... of course I was there to help to you connect the said package deal, remember? Oh I'm sure that one fine day you'll be itching to get your hands back into this hobby. The same goes in my case as I have battalion of 1/35th Scale WWII M4 Sherman Tanks that awaits my attention!

I saw these kits before but i forgot what makes are they from... 1/72, and unless you can read japanese, i can't tell you in cm, it's dimensions!!! heck, painting or hunting for the right colour is gonna be difficult too, coz i dont think they use tamiya paints! i'll proly have to do "closest match". this month, no time to do... mayb in june?
