I noticed that the vintage figures have a better coloring job and condition of the plastic quality is way much-much better than the modern counterparts.
I havent properly clean my vintage figures coz i really afraid that the colors will go away if i do some cleaning.
The vinyl coat for Vader, Obi Wan, and the rest is quite soft. That is a major factor.
MY POTF ( 1995 ) Boba Fett colors has been chipped off. When i compared with the vintage version, i noticed the coloring of the vintage figures is much more solid.
So i am so afraid with extensive rubbing or cleaning can tear the holes or thinning the colors or worse......... Arghhhhhhhh.
So what is the best cleaning method?
Vintage Sifu, you live and breathe vintage, so hopefully you can share one tips or two in this matter.

IG78 you have done me proud by making the Vintage Star Wars section of MySciFiFan forums lively! ;D OK here is a simple and practical tip that you can follow to effectively clean your Vintage Star Wars action figures and at the same time without causing any irrepairable damage to the paint job : 1) Use gentle detergent, like liquid hand soap. 2) Depending on the dirt that is deposited on the surface + nook & cranny of the figure, spread the soap all over the figure. 3) Use a Tooth Brush that is made SPECIALLY for babies to gently scrub the dirt off the UNPAINTED AREAS of the action figure. Please be patient lest you might scrub some of the paint off the surface of those areas to be avoided. 4) Rinse the soap off with warm water. 5) Use lint free cloth to wipe the water off the action figure. Repeat Steps 1 to 4 if your first time attempt did not bring you the clean results that you desire. The rule of the thumb is to be VERY, VERY CAREFULY when you scrub the dirt off the PAINTED AREAS of the Vintage Star Wars figure. Now give this method a try and report your results here. Thanks for the tips Vintage Sifu.
I will post my updates. The dirtiest figure is the Snowtrooper. What i am so afraid of is the soft materials used in them.
I really cant afford to make any silly damage since it is hard to find. I wish Malaysia can be like in States where vintage figures can easily can be obtained.

Thanks for the tips Vintage Sifu. You're welcome, BRO! Yes, and we look forward to see it here at MySciFifan LOL! So the Snowtrooper it is. Then here is the tip, INTENSIFY the scrubbing on the WHITE PLASTIC areas and at the SAME time be GENTLE with the BLACK PAINTED areas such as the EYES, SHOULDER JOINTS, CHEST PLATE and at the Front CROTCH AREA. Follow this and you should do fine. ;D

PLMK so that I can offer further assistance, or BETTER still bring it with you to the 13 March 2005 MySciFiFan STAR WARS Gathering for me to have a better look. ;D
