Yeah, but of all the things to do in space??? Malaysia's behind on the space program by about half a decade and the first thing a Malaysian astronaut will do is make teh tarik??? That just goes to show how much we Malaysians think outside of the box.

Nerds always do stupid things. Get used to it. ;D Ok you're right. I just checked, and a 'nerd' IS someone who does foolish/stupid things. .
On the plus side, I also found out that I'm not qualified to be a Nerd, although I would admit I'm one. I'm also not qualified to be a Geek either, although some people who know me may disagree... ;D
But that's a story for another thread...
Ok back to topic. It it reported that Sheikh Muszaphar is an orthopaedic doctor and a trainee lecturer in medicine with the National University of Malaysia.
What else is he gonna do up there after making his Teh Tarik? Observe if anyone's bone would grows brittle in space?

Deathstar, no prob! I think we are having fun, at the expense of Sheikh whatsisname, but among us there's no animosity, right? I don't think any forum member here has expressed offence.
Pol, I find it strange that you would admit you're a nerd. I think aside from the "doing foolish things" bit, there is also a pre-requisite that you'd have to be four-eyed... i.e. wearing specs, particularly the horn-rimmed variety. I know for a fact you don't wear specs, except maybe when attending to the minute details of your props.

I think the govt would achieve a better sense of pride and achievement if they used all that money to better the lives of people in less developed areas of the country instead. For example where I am in Kota Kinabalu, we still experience constant power outage; sometimes 2-3 times a day. And in the East Coast of Sabah they are without electricity almost on a daily basis, sometimes up to 12 hours a day. And here we see the govt spending millions training and sending people into space, without any claer benefits to the country except to make some people look and feel important.Pol, I find it strange that you would admit you're a nerd. Yeah I'm long-sighted, not short-sighted, so I only need glassed to read and to look at things up close. But I AM single-minded in the pursuit of my interest, which is one of the threads of being a Nerd & a Geek. But like I said I just found out that I'm not qualified becasue I'm not socially inept(another prerequisite of being a Nerd & a Geek), but rather quite the opposite ;D

So many illegal immigrants, corrupted officials and worst of all, like you have said, power outages... It's a wonder, I still go back there... But they'd rather put people in space than to look towards under developed areas of the country. Sigh...
