well, she doesnt know abou it. ...so I'm glad me not alone! *BIG grin*hm... me got no previous experience that I dressed up in SW before, but when I tried to get a simple but basically complete army uniform, she wasn't very keen (condition: must be new clothes) but when I showed her, she said looks not to bad (UK tropical combats) haha... boy! you REALLY are big into it! I only got some printouts of armours for sale and she saw it and just left it at that hehe... hey! I've been thinking about that too as an alternative to the US$30 toys on ebay, say how much you got it and which shop? My wife said just today that how nice if we'd (ie.me and her!) go there for shopping etc.: Perfect pretext!!! ahahah...aya, my son can't even fully walk yet, let alone hold da blaster!!!Maybe I can say it's for when he grows up (although I dislike the idea to accustom young kids with guns...violent mah) HAHA! *biiig grin* Goood risk assessment! haha...talk about big boys toys! Sounds like a good move (which I can apply in future too...)...hats off to you...it would appear the Force is certainly with you(like, nothing and noone's gonna stop me now!muahahahahh...)!! haha Thanks for your lenghty and detailed reply (didn't expect it!) and brightening up my day with your amusing literature(ie.Stormtrooper home domination plans)! ;D

but familys always 1st. I wont do this if i dont have freelance jobs to back me up. My monthly salary is enuff to pay the bills n buy groceries once in a while at Giant. workin class hero...
Anyway, its good if u have somebody to keep your spirit up. We may have doubts, 'wht the heck am i thinkin? i could buy a new set of sofas with this amount if RM'!! in my case, i could easily upgrade my Mac, or upgrade my NLE tool, buy a strong floodlight for my videography nightshots..etc. But i live this live once, and im already 29, i couldnt wait for another year or two, now seems the perfect time, my son's only 1yr 5month old n im expecting a new baby next Jan/Feb. Some may say, 'Get a life, u losers, spending so much on tht plastics, get into the reality of life, these r all make-believe world'.. but id say, i have a life, we all have a life to live on, just get on with it. I was into music so much before n always dreamed on buying mysefl a drum set or a bass guitar, but i ended up with none. Im done with dreaming n now to take some realistic action.
About the toy gun, i bought it at Alamanda's ToyCity (putrajaya), BUT it was the last one they had, the box itself have some 'koyak' at the edges, probably an old stock they wanted to clear it out. RM40, quite cheap la. white color, but i painted it black last night.

I think I saw the same toy at Jusco 1U. Comes in a purple/blue box. Not sure about the price though. Has the basic outline of an E-11, but the barrel is squarish. Can be made to look a lot like the E-11, but accuracy depends on how much effort you're willing to put into it...

Thanks fellow troopers!! (tears moved by the current predicament and sacrifice of Stormtrooper-wanna-be's... haha)... Looks like I need to (continue) spend more time on research, surveying, study.... (heck, it's ending up looking like homework man! My wife commented "hey, are you studying for exam or what? is not very important la...." haha, but like what you said, if there's something you've always dreamed of doing, then at some point you gotta do it! (BTW, I'm slightly older) That's why I've started taking Violin lessons 'cos it's one of my long dreams...and lovin' it! (not to be confused with any big food chain's slogan ya!) but that's another story/forum which is not meant to be discussed here....hehe Thanks for the "blaster" info

Hi folks, just wondering whether/where Short or Long Sleeve (cotton) Coveralls are selling in Malaysia (colour STEEL BLUE, for Boba Fett costume). Eg. "Walls" (not ice-cream!) brand etc.: www.qcsupply.com/Products/9441.aspx Any feedback appreciated. Thanks!

Clonetrooper...Triplesaber...you're both exactly like my big bro. His predicament with his hobby and his responsibilities to the wife and her not-too-approving-of-spending-lotsa-money on 'toys' is the same as the both of you. I've almost the same predicament as u guys myself. I'm not married yet but I plan on getting married soon and that will certainly require quite a substantial amount of capital. But with the Star Wars saga coming full circle, something kinda happened to me. I've suddenly become obsessed with all things Star Wars and this obsession is begining to take precedence on my income which I'm supposed to accumulate for the probable wedding instead. I'm now torn between responsibilities to my better half and my obsession. I'm becoming more impulsive when it comes to Star Wars. The cost that I spent to kinda complete my Jedi/Dark Jedi outfit was about RM400. And now, I'm on a mission to acquire the Anakin, Vader and Mace's MR FX lighsaber and after seeing a real live sandtrooper in Malaysia, I've never wanted to have anything else this bad before. Sigh...wouldn't it be nice if money grew on trees? Anyway, please, to the trooper/s and would be trooper/s and bounty hunter/s in this forum, share your knowledge, your experience and all there is to know about acquiring/procuring/making your costume so that other costumers/die hard fans (without easily disposable income) could benefit from it. Cheers! ;D

Dark_revan, fret not, that's why we're all here! to Help each other, give advise etc. Eg. can manage to get a still decent/not too terribly cheapish/toyish looking Boba/Jango outfit for well under 1K. A "proper" scout trooper armour outfit will set you back at least 1.7K and above (probably near 2K). Storm trooper(not to mention Sandtrooper!)? AT LEAST 2.5K (incl.helmet), not incl.shipping fees, bodysuit underarmor, gloves, blaster and boots(all these probably another several hundred RMs depending how resourceful/how much can DIY)!
My personal advice: Wait with Sandtrooper (or whatever white armoured stuff!) spending as wedding (particularly Chinese, no offense!) tends to behave like a black hole! If you do photo sessions(anywhere 3-8K depending how fancy/how many pics/what grade of gowns and how many etc. they'll add this 'n that after shooting sessions, believe ME!!!), your Jedi costume (BTW, can include in your wedding photo session as well?) look silly cheap. Wedding is (usually/ideally!) once a lifetime so concentrate on it. I'd say, you can go for the Sandy trooper later...that's my personal 2 cents and I'm NOT trying to discourage you, 'tis just that the timing is not so optimum for you right now and Wedding COSTs as lot! (unless you got generous sponsors, or don't plan to invite friends, relatives to your dinner...heck! maybe not even a dinner at all, just 2-3 tables that's it, and your future wife doesn't mind NOT having any wedding photos! haha...)....not to mention the time effort for logistical and organisational (NIGHTMARE!!! I won't do it again!!!...hm, maybe that's intentional! hehe) Take me, not huge goldpot to spare as well, taking care of family, kids, wife, house(hold) and all, paying bills...so even I've got it 2 years behind me and considered "settled down" in terms of expenses, I also go consider a RM500+ Boba outfit...but it's your choice...that's my thinking.... I'm just playing safe in case my interests change...hehe...can always(I hope!) upgrade later mah....but I'm sure other ppl got other views (or big goldpot...hehe). That's why I stopped all purchase on any "toys" lately since I set my mind on a (yet to be decided but quite close to) costume (eg.SW ships and such)... Like triplesaber said: Family definately comes first... ;D But please don't be disheartened... if you REALLY want that Sandy trooper, even after the wedding (say 1 year later, for you to recover! haha) your fire will still burn right? so look at it as a test of time...

Ehehe...actually, the possiblity of having a hint of Star Wars theme in my probable wedding has been discussed with my better half. And we were kinda psyched about it ;D. It could be something that just might happen. But being on the 'pelamin'(altar) dressed as a trooper...that would be a no-no.

Well Lord Revan, I have actually done a full scale STAR WARS themed Wedding Dinner back in 2000. This event was featured on THE STAR dated 15 July 2000.
If there are ENOUGHT MySciFiFan COSTUMED Contingent members - ONLY who wants to know how to organize one perhaps we Admin Team can organize a SPECIAL STAR WARS themed Wedding Dinner Workshop in the near future. ;D[/b]
