I've got a new years eve party coming up, and have decided to make a very cheap sith costume. I'm using an old karate gi, as well as some sheets and random fabric I have lying around. I'm going to dye it all black (currently white). I'm also making a lightsaber.
My total budget for this is around $60, and have very little time. I have enlisted help of family and friends, and plan to have the majority of the work done tomorrow. The only things I need to plan are boots and a belt.
I will post photos here when it is made. Wish me luck.

Ok I wish you luck! ;D
Sith costume is a very good start for SW costumes as everything can be black and even if its not top-notch its not too noticeable.
I presume you're going EU...Does your character have a name yet? And which saber will you be making? Or is it an original design?
Good luck and do post pics!
Oh and do tell us a bit more about yourself by starting a new thread in the INTRODUCTIONS section, and by posting in the other threads like POLL: Where are you located?, An Age Survey, A Job Survey

I haven't sorted out my character yet, I figure I'm just going to put the costume on and see what I feel like. I'm making a custom design lighstaber, made mostly from a torch (low cost).
It's odd, the theme is supposed to be 'people from 20,000 years in the future' and yet starwars was 'long long ago'. Oh wel,, I hope nobody will notice.

In that case I dub thee Darth Conquerous....
In addition to what you have listed, I advise you to make a Robe that consists of a Hood and Cloak to go together with your Sith Lord Costume.
Another thing you can do is to add "tattoo" to your face similar to Darth Maul's face to enhance the menacing look of your Sith Lord character.
Now GO Lord Conquerous and spread the terror of the Sith Order to the Jedis who cross your path...

Just to give you an example. There're still civilisations who lives in very very primitive ways on earth today, and then there are some civilisations 3,000 years ago on earth which are way more advance then those living in primitive ways today. Make sense?

Thank you, my sith lord... again. And the sheets are what's going to make the robes, as well as the tabard and sash. Two black king size sheets to use up.
And thanks for sorting that out for me, Plo.
General update: Boots and belt are sorted, robes are almost finished and tabard/sash measurements have been taken.

I made one by dyeing an old karate gi (which turned out different to expected) A Karate 'Gi' does not make a good or accurate Outer Tunic. Its ok for a 1st attempt but you really should make a real Tunic sometime in the future...
