I've started this discussion thread for anyone to post the latest NEWS (IF any) of the much talked about 3-D Versions of the Original STAR WARS Trilogy movies.
Last heard (rumours perhaps?) of the Original STAR WARS Trilogy movies starting from Episode IV : A NEW HOPE to be released in 3-D format this year in conjunction with the 30th Anniversary of STAR WARS.
Guys and Grrrrls, please add on from here......

Yeah, I have heard about this last year, lots of fans are getting a little pissed coz it sounds like a money-making venture for Lucasfilm. I think it'll be damn cool tho if they can make the entire movie 3D, (Ive tried one of those 3D booth game rides in Australia - expensive but super realistic) and not just a couple of scenes like the abhorrant 3D movie fad in the 80s - Jaws3D for example. I think i'dll be better use of funding for Lucas to do a worldwide search to find a protege who can come up with good, sounds scripts to turn into a TV series, or better yet, a movie series - to continue his legacy. While I love the current movies - I would love new stories a lot more.
Yeah, the idea came about months before ROTS but never got serious attention & it is again a money-making venture by Lucasfilm. Most 3D movie were shot using 3D technology. It's mighty hard to do it afterward as you can see certain flaws in final projection & it'll gave headache to viewers if poorly done. If it was in animated, the image transfer is more easier since it can be digitaly transfered to 3D.
My advice to Lucas, like Obi-Wan said: 'Move along.' & the Stormtrooper follow: Move along… move along
