Ok, ppl just wanted to ask your views on how did luke get a green crystal to make his Ep6 saber? I briefly remember that most of the mines were destroyed during the clone wars... so where did he get the green crystal to make a brand new saber in time where Yoda is the only Jedi left in the Galaxy?? Hmmm...

Luke kill another Jedi to get it? No, just kidding.
a) Obi-wan kept Qui-gons Lightsaber after he take down Darth Maul. Maybe he pass the Saber to Luke offscreen or Luke when back to Obi-wan house to search for it.
b) Maybe he find it in Watto's junkyard since Order 66 is carried out all over the universe. Watto would trade a saber crystal with a podrace turbine engines.

Just to clarify: You don't shoose the crystal, the crystal chooses you. For a Jedi at last.
Doesn't help to explain it entirely, but gives some idea:In the original film trilogy, lightsaber blades were blue, green, and red. The various Expanded Universe (EU) sources, action figures and the prequel films opened up the spectrum of blade colors to many variations of the aforementioned colors, as well as yellow, purple, orange, turquoise, pink, bronze, viridian, brown, silver, and gold, among others; the full variety and extent of focusing gems, and consequently, of colors, is unknown. According to the Expanded Universe, color is determined by the color of the crystal, as well as multipule gems being used for variations of blade intinsity and length. In the game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, a lightsaber can have three crystals; one for color, and two crystals for other properties.
The color of a lightsaber blade depends on the crystals used to focus it. According to non-canon sources, blue-bladed lightsabers are most often associated with Jedi Guardians; green-bladed lightsabers are generally associated with Jedi Consulars; yellow-bladed lightsabers are usually associated with Jedi Sentinels; and red-bladed lightsabers are almost always associated with the Sith and dark Jedi. The reason for this is said to be that the Sith cannot get the same crystals as the Jedi and must use synthasized ones that come out red. Note however, that the color of the lightsaber does not necessarily indicate the nature of the Jedi. Mace Windu's purple-colored lightsaber in the movie was colored differently because Samuel L. Jackson asked for it to be so. In the expanded universe, purple, being a mix of red and blue, shows the mastery of a lightsaber form known as Vaapad or form VII and the light side of the Force which allows Windu to use his fighting style and Force powers dangerously close to the Dark Side without being tainted. Due to the great difficulty involved in attaining such a rare type of crystal, it is also said that a purple crystal is a choice only the most skilled masters in lightsaber combat can make, which might also explain his unusual blade color. Usually the lightsaber crystal will call out to its chosen master during the trials to become a Jedi when the padawan travels to Ilum or Adega. This in part is why some sources claim that Jedi traditionally use Adegan crystals. The Sith "synthetic" crystals were usually created by the will of the Sith, as proved by Darth Maul in the book Shadow Hunter.Source: Answers.com
I seem to remember reading somewhere that not all the mines were destroyed, as the Jedi Council kept some of the mines' location secret.

I remember reading somewhere that Luke built his new saber at Obi-wan's shack in Tatooine. I suppose he rummaged through Obi-wan's belongings and found a spare crystal there. Not a very honorable thing to do, to go though a dead man's stuff, but that explanation seems to be a logical one.

Yea that makes sense. He would have arrived to Tatooine with the droids & sent them in first but not before Lando worked his way in. They would need like a sorta base of operations on the desert planet itself. Luke is a local so he should know his way around. Funny thing is that Obi Wan might have kept Qui Gons saber in that same box he kept Anakins ep3 saber as shown in Ep4 ... the scene where Luke hangs out at Obi crib ..heheh Luke just might only have to look in that same box & find Qui Gons saber. At the end of Ep3, Yoda says he'll teach Obi Wan to 'commune' with your former master.... So Qui Gon could have some back story which they could build on... about "The Saber that Slayed Darth Maul" hahah Hey Pol the part about 'the crystal chooses the Jedi' part sounds like another thing that the boy who wrote Eragon... stole from star wars to put into his dragon trilogy heheh The dragon egg chooses the Dragon Rider hahah

Thanks for the jedi crystal info. I really fancy being a Jedi Consular. To be one with the living force. Also according to the star wars movies... the ones with greens saber stick around a long time.... Yoda & Luke !!

Nah... Jedi's don't make their own sabres, not during the Republic days anyway. They just have to fill-up some forms in triplicate copies, duly approved by their immediate Jedi superior, and submit it for requisition. They probably have some sweat-shop on a backwater planet churning out the sabres. That's why they can make so many, even give them younglings (which is very irresponsible, if you ask me. Giving weapons to younglings. What were they thinking??? I'm surprised I don't see younglings with missing fingers, arms, legs or maybe worse. Then again, maybe they sent those kids home if something like that happens.. ) They can then collect their sabres 6-8 weeks after submitting the requisition papers. In times of emergency, like when Obi and Anie were caught on Geonosis, exceptions are made, but they still have to do the paperwork after that. It's a different form than the normal requisition though, and you have to fill-up six copies. Bureaucracy. ;D Oh yeah, Luke found Mr. Jin's sabre when he ransacked Mr. Kenobi's shack. It wasn't working though, since "Mr." Kenobi was using it for something else during his solitude... (what do you expect after 17+ years of using it for something else... )
