501st.myscififan.com looks good for the time being. Don't have to pay for a new domain. When (if...) MYNIC finally opens up 2nd level .my registration, perhaps we can look at 501st.my. Now that would be something to look forward to I don't see a problem with Brunei as they can also register e.g. 501st.com.bn, or 501st.bn. It can then point to the same IP wherever the site is hosted. That way, each camp will have a sense of "identity".

501st.myscififan.com for me... Should we decide to get a domain name later, it doesn't take more than a few clicks (and up to 48 hours DNS floating time) to redirect it back to the subdomain. No need to pay the new domain name and hosting meanwhile, so that is cool.

Thats some splendid ideas arek! We only need to remove the .my bit to represent MY-BN as one outpost entity. As mentioned in my earlier post, it would be up to the respective geographic reps if they want to promote a 501st.my/bn, and just repoint it to the common URL.

If we go with the first suggestion we obviously have to us .my For the rest it's not necessary.
If we can keep the title short. Although we are in two countries we are one outpost, as such I don't feel it's necessary to mention specific countries because the address becomes too long.

Just curious.........why is "scififan" has to be in there. This is a Star Wars - 501st related website. How about "mybr501.com" - sounds fair to Brunei's member. Just my .02 Imperial credits.

It doesn't HAVE to be there, but would be nice to have it there because all Malaysian 501st Members are currently also MySciFiFan members, and their apearances will be coordinated by MySciFiFan admin team, thorugh MySciFiFan contacts...
Just a way to remember our roots, and where we all started from...

Just curious.........why is "scififan" has to be in there. This is a Star Wars - 501st related website. Thanks for dropping by mansugi. Yes it has been a while since your last visit. Plo Strax-Avix has clearly mentioned the purpose of having "MySciFiFan" in the proposed domain name. Allow me to add on to this. Here in MALAYSIA, with the activation of the TROOPING ARM of MySciFiFan back in March 2005, ALL costumed public appearances has been championed and co-ordinated under the MySciFiFan aegis. Yes, apart from public appearances as STAR WARS characters, MySciFiFan has also co-ordinated the public appearances as LOTR and X-Men characters. Each of these trooping events have been accounted for under the EVENTS section of MySciFiFan forums and also in the EVENTS section of the Official MySciFiFan website.
The TRUE numbers of Sci-Fi costume enthusiasts are small at this moment (not taking into account the local Japanese Anime Cosplayers). At meantime whilst the numbers of the 501st MALAYSIA / BRUNEI OUTPOST grows at a slow and steady rate, the MySciFiFan Admin team will co-ordinate the public - charity or publicity related costumed appearances. Personally as the first member of the local 501st Outpost, I naturally look forward to the day when the 501st MALAYSIA / BRUNEI OUTPOST grows in strenght and numbers to become a full fledged Garrisons like the Fan Wars, Outpost 42, Mexico, and Excelsior who were granted Garrison status in the 501st Legion this year.
As a matter of fact you would have noticed that the newly activated 501st Formosa Outpost have this domain name, www.chinese-starwars.com/501
that follows from their main domain name www.chinese-starwars.com since they are already an established STAR WARS costuming group based in Taiwan before their 501st Outpost was activated on 17 May 2006. As a matter of fact they were the Stormtroopers and Sandtroopers who visited Singapore's Art Of STAR WARS Exhibition and trooped there a month earlier before the MySciFiFan STAR WARS Costumed Contingent made our public appearance in 11-12 December 2005.
Notice the similarities between us and our Taiwanese counterparts in this respect? I've discussed the proposed domain name www.501st.myscififan.com to our Brunei based trooper, TK8829. He has no objections to this in his SMS reply to me. As a matter of fact one of the advantages of a smaller Outpost is that the CO can maintain constant contact with his Outpost members. ;D[/b][/color]
