Why can't it be in a cheaper country like Thailand, or the Philippines? Heck even Taiwan / Hongkong is better in terms of affordability ..and why not Singapore, I may want to ask too. I can only speculate that Lucasfilm Ltd. have their own rationale of selecting Japan over these other Asian countries that we've listed out.Because the convention coincides with the 30th anniversary of Star Wars in Japan.

Because the convention coincides with the 30th anniversary of Star Wars in Japan. I guess the key here to Japan being selected, apart from it's the 30th Anniversary of SW release in Japan is that Japanese are "crazy" about almost anything and willing to pay for it without complaining too much. Remember that the SW Exhibition came to Asia through Japan first? That's is also why during many Movie Premieres, they can afford to bring in the Casts and/or Crew who might be ex. ones. Anyhow, over here the quote is around SGD2,000 for a relatively basis but comfortable trip with the Airfare nearly half of it. Add another SGD500+++ for a good shopping trip too. Hmmm....Cup Noodles and plain water everyday, apart from 4 people squeezed into room meant for 2 anyone for the trip anyone?

I'm up for it if someone does the booking and be the guide. I can't speak Japanese to save my life, which means I can't stray a single step away from the group
Too bad AirAsia don't fly to Japan yet...

Come worse, bring along an English-Japanese Phrases Book and a good detailed map lah. From the TV, I think a proportion of people in Japan, mostly the younger ones can speak bits of English as it might be a subject in School these days.

One of my COST Saving Strategy IF I'm going is to pack bags of roti, kari ayam, tuna and sardine fish into my Sandtrooper Backpack. The long French Loaf can go inside the Hollow Mortar Launcher. ;D

Haahaa....maybe sure the Kari Ayam is the Can kind or 1 hari dah basi. And this is reminding me of my Cadet Corp Officer Camp days; Canned Sardine and Curry and Bake beans tasted soooooo good directly from the Can. Now try doing the same at home
