Foam! And no, it has nothing to do with costume or some replica of whatever. I want to use it to protect my slr... So the idea is to have a large piece (rectangular) and I cut it so that my slr can slide in snugly as I use a normal backpack to carry it around instead of shouting to the whole wide world that I'm carrying a slr camera!

vkkf1977, to be frank this looks like a piece of sponge that you could get at the hardware shops in SS2!
I have some leftover pieces - those that comes packaged with computer hardware pieces - is that what you seek? How large is the rectangular piece you seek?

I don't think this kind of high density black foram is available in large pieces in Malaysia. I've been looking for it for a long time and still can't find it.
To encase an SLP at least 5 sheets of A4 size in 1" thickness, or one chunk of 9" X 7" x 5" is needed.
I have found a different kind of foam here which may do the trick. So far I've only bought the 1/2 inch thick X 6 inch wide version. I'll need to go see if they sell anything thicker.

Hmmmmm....have you try factories or company that provide packing materials? Or if get to know anyone who work at exhibition installation or quality packing, can try asking them for a source. I am also looking for a resonably priced source here in Singapore to one day line my Armor Boxes (only got a BIG sample from my last exhibition job), and the people I asked about it told me to try the Yellowpages as the company name escape their mind (and they thot the big sample they gave is enough).

Try some shops along Jalan Raja Laut, same row as KFC. I bought the foam lining for my Vader helmets there.

I don't think he ind of foam you got for your Vader helmets won't do, Kal. They have too much give, and thus allow too much movement of an item embedded in it.
The kind of foam for sensitive equipment is much more compact and firmer to the touch, therefore providing cushioning without much give.
