Yes, yes - Ahsoka uses a green saber; but I couldn't find the parts (at the time) to make a green saber... But anyway, have been spending some free time building a (slightly) better looking lightsaber this time. I 'sorta' used Ahsoka's lightsaber for a 'base', with the metallic look and the two projections near the pommel; but kinda short stopped cause I couldn't figure out how to make the pommel itself (which resemble Obiwan's). Anyway, here's some pics of it: The irregular paint job and scratches are intentional - for that battle-scarred look. The blade and hilt are longer than my 1st lightsaber. Another close-up of the hilt. That's my attempt at Galen Marek which ended up looking more like Rahm Kota...

Interesting. How long did these take to make?

Purple took me 48 hours - I was in a rush for comicfiesta... Green took a couple of weeks, because I was in no hurry and wanted to try out new materials... Blue took me 48 hours - I broke my green lightsaber 2 days before the launch of Red's exhibition... I'm still working on my blue 'nightsticks' ala Maris Brood - and it's been about 1 week coz I've been busy with other stuff, not to mention trying out a new circuit that allows the blade to 'extend' and 'retract'. I'll post up pics of the blue lightsaber and blue 'nightsticks' here once I find the time to take 'prop' photos... Although you can see them in my facebook profile...

If you can figure out a way to get rid of that 'cap' at the tip of the blade, you can potentially make a lot of money by offering to convert saber hilts into your version of the FX saber...

Yeah, the tip is actually the most 'cacat' part of the lightsabers that I make... The reason is that the blade is actually a glass neon tube that has terminals on both ends. There's no way to modify my present design to the 'capless' style. The 'capless' style is based on either a very powerful LED at the hilt or electroluminescent wire which is 'looped' at the tip so that both terminals are at the hilt. I've found a shop that'll ship the LEDs in PJ, but no luck in finding EL wire yet in Malaysia. I still persevere with my current design because it's cheap, simple and the parts are easy to find. Not to mention the fact that I can easily construct a simple saber within a couple of days. But I *do* intend to improve my lightsabers, although at the moment, I'm experimenting more with hilt styles and stuff like that... X)

X) Leave the hilts to me, you just concentrate on the blade ;D You're right, you know. I'm more into working on getting the blade done right than making an awesome-looking hilt - which is why my hilts look like baby bottles, PVC piping and tennis racquet handles... ;D But the hilt needs to be built around the blade instead of the other way around - there's a lot of circuitry and batteries and stuff to fit into the hilt anywayz... How much space do you have inside your hilts? Haven't got a good shot of my latest Maris Brood styled tonfas except for this shot, which also features a rather phailed experimentation in the head-piece part... Will upload a clear shot of the tonfas later...

How much space do you have inside your hilts? The one and only EL saber I ever attempted (EL circuitry and blade courtesy of our very own Douglas aka Yupa Anex), but never completed, has a tube with an ID of 1.25". The OD of a lightsaber need to be no bigger then 1.5" for it to maintain its sleek and elegant look.
Coincidentally, 1.5" (or 38mm) is the exact OD of the first ever lightsaber ever created, aka the Graflex Flashgun Handle.

After an absence of a year or so I think (Extremely busy with work and bad internet connection) I felt the tug of the force. Someone mentioned my name again.
Yes. I help to make the EL system and no, you can't easily get EL here in Malaysia.
Pol, I am still waiting for you to bring back that hilt to fit in the Purple SMT LEDs (smaller leds than the current ones).
