Over the weekend of 28 February to 1 March, Outpost Events together Sony Malaysia and RAM Entertainment bring the excitement of the movies from the silver screen to reality by providing Malaysians the opportunity to compete as their favourite characters in an exclusive Street Fighter IV tournament held at Cineleisure Mutiara Damansara. Street Fighter contestants will pit their video gaming skills against each other on the Sony Playstation 3, or PS3â„¢ for short, where the Grand Champion will walk away with a 80GB PS3â„¢ worth over RM1,599 and exclusive Street Fighter: Legend of Chun Li movie merchandise.
Street Fighter IV brings the series back to its roots by taking the beloved fighting moves and techniques of the original Street Fighter II and infusing them with latest advancements in technology to enrich today’s video gaming experience. Gamers are spoilt for choice in this latest game instalment with a total complement of 19 characters to compete against.
Tournament entry fee of RM25 includes a special screening of Street Fighter the Legend of Chun Li in Cathay Cineplex Damansara on Sunday 1 March evening. Contestants attending this special screening will have the opportunity to experience Street Fighter IV on the giant cinema screen. Registration forms are available at the Outpost Café or Gamer’s Hideout in Cineleisure, and may also be downloaded from www.gameaxis.com or www.outpost.com.my/sf4. Contestants who fully register early will have the opportunity to train-up their skills on Street Fighter IV against other live opponents at the Outpost Café between 25 to 27 February.
Non-competing visitors to the tournament taking place at the ground floor of Cineleisure will have the opportunity to try out Street Fighter IV on the Sony PS3â„¢. In addition to being a game console with integrated Wi-Fi connection and Dualshock wireless controller, the PS3â„¢ includes a Blu-ray player and HDMI output to allow players to enjoy full HD experience. Visitors to the two-day event may take advantage of an attractive promotional deal from Sony whereby purchase of a PS3â„¢ console that comes with the original Street Fighter IV game will include free limited edition PS3â„¢ controller pouch and logo carpet plus movie pass for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li.
Visitors can also have themselves drawn as Street Fighter themed caricatures courtesy of students from Adcom Academy of Digital Design & Advertising. In addition, shoppers at Cineleisure who purchase a minimum of RM30 from any shop in the mall may redeem free movie passes to Street Fighter The Legend of Chun Li or exclusive movie t-shirts and caps courtesy of RAM Entertainment.
This latest adaption from the famous series of fighting video games by Capcom, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li focuses its story on female fighter Chun-Li as she seeks justice after her father is murdered. The movie was shot in numerous locations including Bangkok, Thailand, Hong Kong and Vancouver under director Andrzei Bartkowiak whose previous movie credits include Romeo Must Die and Doom. Kristin Kreuk of Smallville TV series fame stars as Chun Li together with Michael Clarke Duncan (The Scorpion King), Neal McDonough (The Guardian), Taboo (Black Eye Peas), Chris Klein (American Pie), Moon Bloodgood (Terminator Salvation), Edmund Chen, Cheng Pei Pei, Josie Ho, & Robin Shou (Mortal Kombat).
