Other Famous Officer-Named Maneuvers
This list and its top ten entries were sent in by Dave Rogers, who
reminds us: "The famous 'Picard Maneuver' is a means by which a ship
can appear to be in two places at once by jumping to warp. What sort
of maneuvers could be named after other well-known Starfleet
officers?" Thanks, Dave! Do you have any more (originals only, please)
to add? Please, let me know!
10. The Janeway Maneuver: A short jump through subspace which enables
the last one up from the table to get to the coffee machine first.
9. The Torres Maneuver: The left fist strikes the solar plexus, then
the heel of the right hand strikes the bridge of the nose, resulting
in immediate agreement that the plasma conduits are fine and the
problem is in the warp relay manifold.
8. The Troi Maneuver: Insert spoon in chocolate fudge pudding. Insert
spoonful of pudding in mouth. Repeat.
7. The Chekov Maneuver: Same as the Picard Maneuvre, but "it was
inwented by a Russian!"
6. The LaForge Maneuver: Re-route the antimatter stream through the
secondary dilithium matrix, take all the tertiary systems offline and
re-direct power to the main containment field, resulting in a 0.00005%
increase in engine efficiency and a 167 hour week for everyone in
Engineering.
5. The Kirk Maneuver: While the left arm encircles the waist, the
right hand unfastens the clasp of the pointy aluminium bra.
4. The Carey Maneuver: or "How I avoided being
Dead-Crewman-of-the-Week by hiding in a Jefferies tube for five
years."
3. The Dax Maneuver: description omitted due to sexually explicit
nature. For further information, see "Klingon Extra-species Mating
Rituals: A Guide to Recuperative Care." J. Bashir and L. Zimmerman
v2.27, Starfleet Press, 2411 (3rd Edition).
2. The Chakotay Maneuver: Derisive Starfleet Academy slang for a
really bad landing in the shuttle simulator.
1. The Wesley Crusher Maneuver: The main power coupling is re-routed
through the navigational controls, resulting in a 5000V shock and
immediate death.
Additions...
20. The Barkley Maneuver:
Living life on the HoloDeck to escape reality.
19. Spock Maneuver:
To out think all non-Vulcan races, on a daily basis. His current goal?
To re-think the Romulan Empire! Let's all take a moment to consider
that one...
18. Odo Maneuver:
Odo's life-long goal is to shape shift himself into another Star Trek
series. Currently, however, only Chief O'Brien, and Worf have done
this with any degree of success.
17. Jadzia Dax Maneuver:
She will try to come back from the dead, or rather from another
dimension, and make Worf very happy.
16. 7 of 9 Maneuver:
She plans to assimilate Harry Kim as her mate, and he will offer NO resistance.
15. Holographic Doctor Maneuver:
He plans to "leave" a back-up copy of himself at most of the planets
that Voyager travels to. He will do this so that Opera will spread
through out the Delta quadrant, however, aliens will revolt, and
invent Rock And Roll. Sorry doc.
14. Dr. McCoy Maneuver:
To activate the clone himself. This may be a bit more difficult, since
he's currently dead, HOWEVER, this is science fiction, so all things
are possible.
13. The Kira Maneuver:
To boldly find new genders and textures, and to shag them royally.
12. The Janeway Maneuver II: A maneuver in which one leaps through
subspace to nearest coffee machine, fills up impossibly-sized
"Galaxy's Best Captain" mug, leaps back, yells "Battlestations", makes
first contact, breaks out phaser rifles, whups Bad Guy butt, and gets
back before the coffee gets cold.
11. The Kim Maneuver: Die. Come back. Repeat.
