you guys remember this? 3 guys and a quite pretty girl flying around in a spaceship that can later transform into a robot if needed... you got a very serious leader, a wise cracking pilot/cowboy hotshot who's always trying to impress the girl... (now this reminds me of Centurions too!!!) I remember being glued to this like how i'm glued to my RK now... www.absoluteanime.com/saber_rider/ now... if only i could find this here...

I remember seeing this, but not as much as Galaxy Rangers, because Quran lessons came on the same time as Saber Rider. And Saber Rider also had a rockin' theme song.

Ah, another awesome one from the 1980's and successful translation from Japanese anime to US cartoon. In fact, I think most of the series were Japanese dubbed but a few were made specially for the US market to develop the translated plot. I believe in this episodes, Saber Rider had the hots of April instead of Firebolt who had more action with the gal in the Japanese ones.
Great action scenes throughout most of the series. Recall this one with Colt vs. Jesse Blue where almost half the episode was intense fighting with hardly a break to catch your breath. Must have seen that one 20 times!
Theme song and music were great and very memorable. Still remember the tune somewhat. Didn't care much of the western cowboy theme again, like Galaxy Rangers, but think the Japanese episodes emphasised less on it. Didn't care much either for the silly translation plot about the 'invaders' returning to their own 'dimension'. Couldn't they just 'die' like normal baddies. Come to think of it, no one ever got killed in GI Joe either (somehow can always parachute out of exploding aircraft).
Again, no toys I recall, which was probably a good thing otherwise might have gone nuts over them!
Gotta find on DVD too... ;D

was checking out over the web... all 52 episodes are available on dvd BUT in german!!! arrrrrrrrrrgh! apparently, this company in germany bought the rights for it! certain online shops in UK have the english version... am now trying to see who's coming back... i still remember the banter the 2 (Firebolt & Colt) jokers will have over April! and i remember towards the end, it got really intense coz i think they got outlawed (?) and they had to fight a whole lot of badies... If i'm not mistaken, part of the story revolves around April as she tries to find her father, isn't it?

I used to watch it religiously on Malaysia TV ( RTM rite?) when I was young and now can still hum the chorus of the theme song.

Ramrod is the best darn lets-form-to-combine-into-a-super-robot robot. which robot you know of has a cape for a body part ? and arch villian Nemesis is one of the memorable bad guys of the 80s series.

Come to think of it, you never get to see much of Nemesis at all, right? They talk abt him... but he's pretty much incognito... untill right at the end, where there is this big pow- wow. I remember somewhere just before the ending, they found out the truth abt April's dad, that he wasn't dead at all...
right? coz i REALLY can't recall much (too small at that time!) ;D

well... true... or perhaps i just find villians who hide in the shadows and never reveal themselves to have an interesting presence about them. like that Claw from Inspector Gadget. so i recall Nemesis being that kind of villian too, which had an impression on me.

actually, when you think of it, there are many advantages to this method. I mean, it builds the story, as you reveal little by little. It builds the mood for the big pow-wow! If you had known earlier how the baddy look like or what kind of power from the start, it would be repetitous and "kill" the fun out of it! now, THAT"s great story telling!!! now, if only my friend from UK would respond...!!! then mayb we can have a 4 episode showing!
