If you're thinking football teams as in American football, I'm afraid the following of this sport here in Malaysia is almost non-existant. If anyone in Malaysia mentions football, they'd most likely mean soccer. The sport that has the biggest following; almost religously ;D here would be football(soccer). Followed by badminton, hockey, basketball, golf, squash, rugby, tennis, cricket and maybe a wee bit of ice hockey.

the national soccer/football team here is rubbish. no offense to our country but its just too rubbish to be given any praise. Im a footie fan, used to be a die-hard Manchester United fan. Still a ManU fan, but takin things slowly n enjoying the game as it is. I remember when USA held the FIFAWorldCup more than a decade ago, many ppl in the US didnt even know what 'football' is and one guy said in an interview "What? You mean, u can play up to 90 mins and more, and not scoring a single goal?!" Although soccer is minor in USA, u should be proud of your national team E-Wing, at least they made it to the World Cup Finals! They reached the quarter final stage on last WorldCup in Japan, only to be beaten by Germany, i remember tht tensely game, USA got a goal disallowed n tht really the turning point of the game. About the basktball finals, i watched some of it LIVE last week, where Spurs won the game, but Pistons played better in my opinion.

I'd definitely agree with Triplesaber. It's a sad fact but true. The quality of football being played by Malaysian teams is as what Triplesaber have so eloquently described...rubbish. But when I referred to football having an almost religous following here, I meant it by how obssessed the fans are with international level of football; the English league, Euro league...etc..etc... But the sports that Malaysian seems to have a good grasp on from what I can see is badminton, squash, bowling and hockey...and even this, we still have quite a long way to go before we can be considered a contender to be reckoned with...

Revan, when i said football i knew i was talking about soccer. it's the same in England. football over there to Americans is soccer. and thank you triplelightsaber for supporting the Pistons. though it was a close game all the way, yes i did watch, the Spurs won. and i don't doubt at all the "religious" way sports are over there.

The only US Basketball Team that I'm well familiar with is the Harlem Globe Trotters! E-Wing are they still popular till this day? I was fortunate enough to watch an exhibition game by the world famous Harlem Globe Trotters in Whitney Bay, Near Newcastle upon tyne, England back in the 80s. Man! Those guys can do unimaginable things with a basketball!
Haven't heard anything about them since then. I wonder if they're still performing or exist as a group...[/color]
