Master Plo>> No worries, "she" will not show up there this year!
Heroking>> I'm not really into mechas, but I do have something rather complicated for next year... not exactly a mecha, but it would be as complex... and no, it's got no boobs! No Gandum for me, man...
Kalkamel>> My gratitudes for the mention, Lord Vader!
I guess Haldir is right. Cosplay is still new in Malaysia, and we need some time to let it mature. I'm rather proud of the Penang cosplayers that I know because we've been able to do in weeks what CF had taken years to achieve (although on a smaller scale). I'm also a noob to cosplay, and am still learning the ropes, but I try to increase the standards of costumes by taking commissions and having workshops and also prop-making sessions at my place.
I've had my costumes exhibition and also a live costumes show, staged my own costumed play, helped the Japanese Consulate with their mini-cosplay event, held a costumed party, had several photoshoots (thanks to Sinister) and the latest, organised an introductory cosplay show during Tokio Fest. I was also invited as a guest at the Emperor of Japan's birthday reception last week (perhaps because of my involvement in promoting cosplay?).
I constantly challenge my people to come up with better costumes and props, and we often have gatherings and outings where we are able to mingle and get to know each other better. I feel that this is an integral part of establishing a moral code amongst cosplayers. Once they know who they are dealing with, only a fool would not respect his/her seniors. Besides, I suppose if these people are so into Japanese culture, they will know their rightful place among the true "sensei" and "senpai" out there.
Well, that's my piece of mind... gotta get back to my props and costumes... my Judge needs a lotta work!
