as in Alien Quadrilogy the DVD set or the entire Aliens series ? i've not watched the DVDs, so i can't comment there. heard there's like extended versions for each movie.
but i do like the Alien series of movies. my favourite being Aliens ( that's like part 2 so to speak ). disliked Alien 3, despite being directed by one of my favourite directors, David Fincher. Alien Resurrection has an okay comeback and i enjoyed that too.

2nd movie Aliens was great. Definite rewatch value with the extended scenes. Alien 3 dun like Did like Alien Resurrection despite not doing too well at the cinemas. If they revive the series, should pick-up from there with the hybrid Ripley (my vote for toughest sci-fi gal yet). ;D

Sigourney Weaver is said be very interested in making another Alien movie. she likes Ripley. who doesn't ? but Weaver hated AvP. well, can't blame her now right ? i'd love to see another Alien movie myself.

Ya, the final version of Ripley is cool, but I think they need to phase her out and introduce a new strong lead for the franchise. Movie-goers probably relate better to the typical normal human underdog vs. the BIG BAD.

iI'm a big fan of the Alien series, 2 and 4 being my favs, and that seems to be the norm around here. I watched AVP the other day, and thought it was good. The Preds were bad ass, but the Aliens held thier own. Good ending too. Good watch, I liked it.

I like Aliens 1,2 & 4, although 3 had its charms. 2 was my favourite, like many others.
I liked the first one because it utilises classic horror movie scare tactics instead of fancy visual effects. For most part of the first movie you don't see the Aliens and had no idea what they were, but was still terrified of them. When they finally showed themselves, WHAM! you get scared out of your seat!
AvP wasn't that bad, although it had its lame moments. I thought the close quarters combat scene between the Alien and the Pred in the temple was awesome. During the movie I kept imagining Arnie to appear and lay both the Aliens & Preds to waste...he he he...
Yeah I agree Sigourney Weaver should give way to a new lead lady. I nominate our very own, Dato Michelle Yeoh ;D

Well... I had all 9 DVDs Ultimate Boxset of Alien Quadrilogy. Watching all of it was worth while... especially given that I am able to watch 2 versions of each movie.
Alien theatrical & Alien Director's Cut had its share value of watching. The infamous Cocoon scene was there plus other scenes that never make it in the theatrical version (and still there is a handful of deleted scenes even!)
Aliens was of course an all time favorite among you all (I can see it even here). The theatrical & special edition of both movies really makes the difference. I prefer the theatrical version instead of the special edition... but the special edition I had... had one scene completely missing! I remember watching from my friend's video tape that was bought in U.K.... there was one scene never make it to the DVD version. It was the scene where what really happen to Paul Reiser's character!
Alien 3 was not really the best... although at that time debut by David Fincher even. But if you watch the special edition version of Alien 3 (30 minutes more!), you will change your mind completely and prefer the special edition instead of the theatrical version. A lot of extended scenes plus... whatever happen to one of the prisoners that was dissappeared completely from the film without a trace is now featured here!
Alien Resurrection had its moments. The special edition of the movie I would prefer the alternate ending (you'll get to see what really happen to Earth!) but never like the alternate opening of the film.
Any fan should get the Alien Quadrilogy Boxset... its worth your money + all the documentaries that is worth 25 hours more!
