With our thriving pirated DVD market here, lots of golden age mini-series are slowly making it's presence felt after so many years dissapeared from the idiot box. Those mini-series that are good that constantly lingers in the memory.
One partivular superb mini-series that constantly outdo each episode is the super duper marvellous Quantum Leap. That is one hell of a good concept and the mini series kept the audience patiently waiting every week to see our hero's next adventure and how he play god by readjusting karma.
One particular strong episode where he merged as Lee Harvey Oswald and the final few days before he is due to assasinate JFK. Heck they played the concept way way before the pathethic Oliver Stone's version.
I dont remember his sidekick's name but i do remember how he fiddling the cool calculator look-a-like that blinks and those wierd beep-beep sound similar to the lovable astromech R2.
It was shown back in RTM2 at 8:30. Thank you pirated DVD.The producers and the scriptwriters are a commendable team and able to churn out cutting edge gripping storyline and the actors played their roles to the hilt.
It is so hillarious when you see Scott Bakula leap and ends in lipstick and tight dress.

Thanks Icheekaze for naming the sidekick. Yeah Al with with those flamboyant clothes.
Hmmmmm......i guess the major cast are recalled to act or guest starred in a new sci-fi series. I guess Scott Bakula can fit into any role easily like a glove.
Quantum Leap can be a reference guide to people who are interested in American history. It's really an educational mini-series.

Al's Ziggy. what today's PDA will turn into in the future.
"Oh boy". one of the best phrases from 80s television.
how did the series ever end ? I don't suppose Sam ever got back home. there were those close call instances that gets your hopes up, but you know will never happen. kind of reminds me of Sliders too.

Nope, he never did get home. After like 5 seasons the last episode was something like a meeting with the Big One Upstairs where it was his destiny or something to continue jumping and fixing things.

What a bummer! Don't envy being in a situation like that forever! No life, no friends except a hologram of a grumpy annoying guy with his 'Ziggy', not knowing what hot soup you'll be dropped into next, and always having to crack your head to fix imposible situations with impossible deadlines.
Man the stress! It's like knowing you'll be in a nightmare but can't avoid it no matter what! I really identifies with Sam Beckett because I have been in quite a few of these nighmarish real life situations before during my time in Event Management.

but if we were to disregard all that sci-fi mojo of leaping through time and bodies, Quantum Leap actually boils down to the familiar theme of "one person making the difference". like Star Wars. or LOTR. or a whole lot of other stories. almost makes me feel that little old me really can make a difference in the world. or at least somebody's live, and that would be more than enough in itself.

the third DVD was released back in May 2005 and i'm still waiting for it to "Show" up here so that i can get the latest copy.
The few epis that really stuck with me is the lee harvey oswald epis and the time he was sent back to vietnam to save his brother troops.
excellent scifi.
