Not a fan of the series... too country western in space for me... but the trailer is interesting.
Is the exacty same crew of characters from the series involved in the movies? The SFX look much better as well as sets so sorta more epic scale then the series... No good it a cinema movie feels like a TV series 2-parter ala Star Trek TNG.

Was in Australia and picked up this movie magazine with a DVD of promotional material for this movie which released there on 29 Sept. No sound yet on the local front I think, maybe next year if the movie makes it here at all.
Haven't seen the DVD yet. Any die-hard fans here want an early peek?

Critics's reviews are out (the movie is runing in US). and it's surprisingly positive. they call it the most fun sci-fi movie since *gasp* Star Wars. calling Captain Mal the best darn rogue since Han Solo. honestly speaking, I believe it is a good fun sci-fi movie, but with so many comparisons being drawns to Star Wars, i think that's actually flattery towards the Star Wars franchise (despite whatever misgivings you have towards the prequels)

Argh, missed out watching it in Aust when it released on 29 Sept. Well, I could have watched it but not willing to pay the equivalent of almost RM50 for a movie in Aust!
Trailers do seem interesting... still do release date yet in Malaysia I know off... probably next year.

Finally finished the Firefly DVD. Ive been looking forward to it coz I'm a big Joss Whedon fan. I thought it was great, overall.
I can unnerstand how the whole cowboy-ish thing might'n put some folk off, plus the mangling of the Chinese phrases in it, but all-in-all it was pretty all right. Jayne is great, Ive always liked Adam Baldwin. Inara is hawtness personified, Wash is hillarious... Whedon does what he does best; write really good characters and dialogue.

I never knew who Joss Whedon was until I saw Firefly. At first, I was not too attracted to it as the theme was more like cowboys in space but as I forced myself to go beyond a few episodes, I began to like it and my favourite episode was "Out of Gas"
Then came the movie which I loved it to bits (except for the deaths) and one particular scene towards the end was how they looked at rain once they fly off.
Darn good. Sob, sob, I really miss them
Now I hate joss Whedon for letting those suits ending the series prematurely.

I dont think Joss could have stopped those gorram suits, they possess power beyond our comprehension - and probably blue hands!
