What are your nominations for the top 5 fantasy movies ever?
Perhaps MySciFiFan could arrange screening events one day.
Please shortlist type of movies by excluding comic adaptations, i.e. Spiderman, Blade, etc. Looking fantasy more as medieval settings from Lord of the Rings, Willow, Excalibur, Clash of the Titans, Conan, etc.

IMDB has a strange definition of fantasy. Additionally I would categorize the LOTR trilogy as one movie cause basically the book is that way (6 chapters + 1 appendices) and the movie was made back to back. I'm quite partial to the movie Krull starring that Eddington guy from DS9, Lysette Anthony, Hagrid and Qui-Gon Jinn; Neverending Story starring both Boxey from Galactica TOS and D.A.R.Y.L.; and Dark Crystal starring a whole bunch of Muppets and fantastically designed by Brian Froud.

Krull rocks hard Hish! I've always hoped someone would detail that world more, especially in the form of an rpg. My top 5 Fantasy Films are:
1) LotR: FotR 2) LotR: RotK 3) LotR: TTT 4) Willow 5) KrullHish, I know what you mean about categorizing the LotR trilogy as one story, but I can't help but see the movies as seperate entities (only due to the fact I remember the pain I felt having to wait a whole year between the release dates ;D).

Krull rocks hard Hish! I've always hoped someone would detail that world more, especially in the form of an rpg. "Well, you heard him. We are now an army!!!" Alun Armstrong's a really fine actor. And James Horner did an amazing job on the score here... I will never forget the music during the firemare ride.

"I wouldn't even follow me own father to the Black Fortress." Alun Armstrong was great as the bandit leader Torquil. Plus Rell the cyclops and his two pronged 'trident' was great too. And the spider in the 'Widow of the Web' sequence still gives me the jitters today. Horner's score was very inspired. I remember being about 9 years old, seeing it for the first time at the cinema and totally loving the bit where one of the bandits stands on the back of the Fire Mare and whoops! Fantastic!

Seems a lot of sci-fi up there classified as fantasy. Well, Star Wars IS a Fantasy movie actually, set in outer space and with a dash of sci-fic & technology. Lucas said it himself. Just that due to its "Space" nature, most people categorized it as Sci-Fic. Seems like my 2 favourite Sagas are in the list and top it, tho' SW Prequels isn't. Well, hope ROTS DOES live up to our expectation and make it into that list later.
