it was a comic book before the movie came out. an interesting one too. written by one of the best comic book writers, Alan Moore ( of Swam Thing and Watchmen fame ).
it's about how the famous literature character that we know of coming together to combat againts world threats ( sounds like JLA, no ? ). i find it interesting as to how these characters are reimagined and put together. Alan Quartermain ( of King Solomon's Mine ), The Invisible Man, Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde, Captain Nemo ( of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea )and Mina Harker ( of Dracula ) like you've never known them before. meaning they're more messed up than in their original stories. check it out.

I've got Vol1. The comics were quite different than the movie. For starters, Mina Murray plays a bigger role than in the movie.

Interesting thread! ;D I wasn't aware that there was a comics adaptation for the movie - League of ExtraOrdinary Gentleman apart from the movie!

i have both volumes in 'digital' format. ;D
actually its not an adaptation of the LXG movie. rather the movie was an adaptation of the comics. ok, 'graphic novels". it was better than the movie, though i did enjoy the movie. they took it a little further by adding literature characters like Dorian Gray and Tom Sawyer.

one things certain tho: the drawings are very different from the current drawings which seem very realistic in a certain way... in fact, LXG would be very retro-ish by today's standards...! But Mina doesn't seem to be doing much... and Alan Quartermain seems to be a real "whimp"...!

Bad Alan Moore. Bad Bad, Alan Moore.
Stupid movie director think he know best put Alan Moore at back bench to watch him screw up the movie. He sucks. Look what he did. Hulk hate, Hulk smash movie director to pieces!
seriously, the movie does no justice to the comic books, eh, terry?

i've come to realise that art can sometimes take second place to great storyline and concept. i think LXG is one of them. no thanks to twisted Alan Moore.

i read the books when they first came out, by default since im into alan moore.
alan moore's responsible for the milestone comics achievement in the 80s (majorly for watchmen, but my personal fave is v for vendetta).
reading alan moore will make u realize that this is in fact THE most intellectually and visually stimulating medium, a bridge between the eliticism of novels and the populism of movies.
LOEG arent masterpieces but its a notable moore product. miss them at your own peril.
