Hey, just wondering what comic books do you guys here read? Not just meaning fantasy, but also superheroes, sci-fi, anime, etc.
Used to read a lot, now hardly any. Only on-going series being subscribed is Spawn, and I'm behind reading by a few months. Got some Star Wars TPBs due to the hype and just started on the Empire series... thrilling! Thumbs up!!!
Was reading some Transformers until it got canned early this year.

Aaaah... comics[/color].. ;D Into Fables and Y:The Last Man from Vertigo / DC Comics right now, two of the best thought-provoking titles in the market at the moment. Whatever Grant Morrison is doing with his Seven Soldiers project, I'm buying (Highly recommending WE3, out in trade paperback now ;D) DC's current various miniseries (under the umbrella heading of Countdown to Infinite Crisis) seem to be worth reading, but I'm holding out for the inevitable trade-paperbacks or hardcover treatments. Followed the Batman "Hush" and Superman's "For Tomorrow" storylines mainly 'cause of Jim Lee's art. Jeph Loeb's stint on Superman/Batman is a fun read, and he pairs up with really good artists! Still reading monthly issues, but shifting more towards paperbacks and harcovers, they look better on the shelf ;D More to come.....

I used to collect a whole bunch when I was studying... In secondary school, I had quite a number of Marvel's Transformers and Star Wars, all the late issues. Around SPM the comic I really collected one issue at a time was Animal Man, because of Grant Morrison's writing. I kept buying it after Morrison left, through Rick Vietch, but at the end of Jamie Delano's run as writer I just lost interest. During the Image Comics boom, I got a lot of the first issues there, Spawn, Savage Dragon, WildCATS, and even Brigade and Youngblood (ugh) which looked like crap and still do. Used to collect the Legion of Superheroes Vol 4 (the Terra Mosaic saga) tried to continue post Zero Hour but I lost interest in the Legion back as kids. Also collected a lot of Vertigo comics, at that time Goddess, Preacher, Girl. The last series I collected issue by issue is Marvel Max's War Machine by Chuck Austen. The only issue I don't have is the first. Lots of Dark Horse Comics Star Wars pre-1996. Even had my letter printed in Dark Empire #4, heh. After 1996, I only pick up trade paperbacks, like Sandman: Brief Lives, Sandman: Dream Country, Marvels. Less now since now I'm really broke. Lots of TPBs I want to buy if I can, Star Wars Empire & Republic, all Alan Moore's stuff especially Tom Strong, Top Ten and Promethea, Planetary, The Authority, The Invisibles... I don't think I'll be buying seperate issues much even if I have the money for it.

I began seriously collecting comics in mid-80s when I discovered there was a comic specialty shop in Damansara...The Mind Shop. Read a lot of DC, Marvel stuff but also some manga and books from other publishers like Dark Horse. Began to lose interest when Marvel introduced the Clone Spidey saga. WTH?? Also, the price was increasing every year and I was just a student then.
Stopped reading soon after. Recently (since 2003), I've been reading trade paperbacks mostly bought at Kinokuniya and some from Amazon.com.
I enjoy the 'mature readers' type of books...Fables, Y:the Last Man, Planetary, Authority but also read the superhero stuff that interest me.
Digging back my old collection, I found that I have a lot of stuff that I forgot I had like Watchmen, V for Vendetta and some Elseworlds books from DC mostly featuring Batman.
I also started collecting tradepaperbacks of the Star Wars books like the Clone Wars (book 6 is coming soon) and Star Wars Tales collection. Star Wars Tales is, in my opinion, the best SW comic ever written. Recommended for all SW fans out there. There are 5 tpbs of SW Tales so far. Get 'em all
I dont think Im going to start collecting again. Just wait for the trade. By the way, what happened to MIND SHOP? They used to have a branch at OU. Not anymore.

I read a lot of comics, most of them r about basketball... however I also like those comics about fantasy, adventure n crime fighting, there's a comic I like very much, Death Note.
It is quite interesting... about how the hero of the story, who is the son of a Head of the Police Officer, uses a death note from the God of Death who purposely dropped it 2 the human world, 2 eliminate villains n 2 created a peaceful world without crime.....hah....an idealist.
The interesting part is how the hero uses the death note 2 kill people....I mean....his way of bringing justice.... his mind n thinking proves 2 be far more powerful than even a God of Death.
However, I dunno whether the comic have translation in English or Malay version...

I'm big fan of comics but due to my expanding interest in computers, videogames and now, Star Wars costuming, my financial freedom is shrinking. I used to collect a bunch of Marvel and Image titles but now I've reduced them to a few. I'm currently collecting the Ultimate series of Spiderman and X-man. The reimagined universe of among 2 of the biggest Marvel titles. I'm collecting every story arc related to Rising Star by J.Michael Stracynsky. I'm really loving Brian Michael Bendis/Oeming's title called Powers. A different and interesting perspective on the super heroes comic genre. This title isn't suitable for kids but all adults, I highly recommend it. ;D I'm currently waiting for a new story arc of the Sin City tales by Frank Miller. I think I have all the Sin City titles in my collection right now. Including the obscured holiday title called Silent Night. I collect a few titles and story arc here and there. Anything that would pieque my interest. I also collect titles from specific artists. I try to get every book done by John Romita Jr., Sam Kieth, Jae Lee and Frank Miller. Most of the titles done by them are usually gold. ;D But, with Star Wars taking priority with me nowadays, I may have to put my comic collection on the back burner for awhile. **sigh** I guess I just can't have them all.

Thanks guys. Some good recommendations I take it.
Yes, how could I forget Rising Stars? Awesome and original plot. Just the last TPB conclusion a few weeks back but haven't read it yet because forgot what happened exactly preceding this issue since it was so long ago... can't quite recall where I kept preceding TPB either...
How are the Marvel titles title by JMS? Read some TPBs of his writing involving Ezekiel (spider totem powers?) and Aunt May finding out Peter Parker is Spiderman. The latter I found to be really gripping drama. Have yet to follow-on with the continuing TPBs due to lack of time and finding them. JMS Fantastic Four anyone?
Datazak => The Mind Shop is now relocated to Bandar Utama Centrepoint, the only branch left... technically no longer branch, just only shop..

Vertigo, Maus and Ennis. Anything that features Garth Ennis. He is one hell of a writer. 2 dimensional crappy character can turned into a a multi aspect super cool character. eg : the newly revamped Frank Castle. Frank Miller really hit low when he appeared with DK2. I dont know why he need to produce a sequel. I dont know what is the big hype of Jim Lee's Hush. The storyline sucks BIG BIG TIME. Managed to check the latest House of M. Was totally blown away how Quesada managed to rock Marvel. Avengers and The X Teamup? Holy Cow. Heroes dropping like flies. Xavier taking the helm. Droooolllllllllllll. Great story and great art. Love the Kevin Smith penned Green Lantern. Missed Preacher like mad. Super cool priest armed with word of GOD, vampire fiend and a blonde gun toting girlfriend. Nothing much on the independant outfit. Maus still ranks as the favourite. Nothing beats a satisfying documentation of the Holocaust. MAD magazine still is the super cool read. Do check out the their lampoon towards EP3 but there is freaking way i am spending 23 bucks. It is getting expensive day by day. I dont know but i felt that comic books now is getting out of reach.
