I searched everything Five-0 related but couldn't find anything sci fi.
The closest thing I can find is Phoenix Five, an Australian sci-fi series from the 70s.
What other information can you provide? A character name or a description of how a few characters look, or the description of scene perhaps?
Is it a TV series or a movie, and where did you come across it?
I want to help identify this, but I need more info.

A principal character was Five-O (Five -oh; not sure how is was spellled, might have been 5 - 0, since, probably, this robotic character was the 50th try). He was a machine, NOT disgused in human form, but developed personality and human emotions. There are two main human characters, one likely Indian (spoke with typical Indian accent, which added greatly to the entertainment, and the other, likely a better know actor, American, English, or the like. Five-O often rode in a trailer-like vehicle. It was, I believe, a motion picture, but I saw it on TV or rented video; guessing at 20-30 years ago. It was popular enough at the time to make its way into casual conversation (in US). As I recall, much of the geography was like southwestern US desert. Thanks for your interest.

I think you're referring to Johnny 5 from "Short Circuit". There's a character named "Ben Jabituya" in the movie played by Fisher Stevens sporting an outrageous Indian accent.

If its 'Short Circuit' (and the sequel 'Short Circuit 2'), then it was definitely a lot more then 'casual conversation' in the US. It was amongst the most loved sci-fi flick of its time, and still retains a loyal following in some quarters.
However the timeline seem to fit as 'Short Circuit' came out in 1986, which makes it 21 years old.
There were rumours of a 'Short Circuit 3' back in 2003 but nothing ever materialised.
However, Johnny 5 do not 'ride in a trailer-like vehicle'. He is self powered, and wouldn't have it any other way.
So len811, is Johnny 5 the robot you're talking about?

Yes. thanks to both of you. It is indeed "Short Circuit" and I ordered a copy.
Although Johnny-Five got around very well on his own, there was a scene or two of him riding in a vehicle - also one of him driving, as I recall.l
I mentioned it to my younger daughter, who would have been in early 20s then, and she knew more details instantly, although not the title. Now we are both trying to figure out why we have "five -oh " in our minds!
Again, thanks. I am looking forward to viewing it with a friend who has not seen it.
