Hello,

As suggested, I'm starting a new thread to introduce myself to everyone.

For those who haven't read my reply to Azman's introduction, I'm the solo R2 builder he mentioned who's currently building my own R2 here in Kuala Lumpur. Like him, I'm also a member of the R2 Builders Club. I've already begun sourcing my R2 parts in earnest, and expect to complete construction by end 2006 but hopefully ASAP. Yes, that's a long time but parts are custom made to order. Plus, building a droid all by myself isn't easy...especially without the right equipment, parts and time.

Other than building R2, I also collect SW items...mostly prop replicas - don't really collect the toys due to space constraints. I'm unable to post any pics at the moment because I'm in the midst of relocating so they're all in boxes. I doubt my collection is anywhere near some of the guys on this forum, but for those who'd like to know, here's a glimpse of what I have:

- An army of original SW toys from Kenner including Falcon, AT-AT, etc. (all played with - of course - but in great condition)
- Don Post Deluxe Darth Vader helmet
- ICONS Skywalker Saber
- MR Vader Saber
- MR Kenobi Saber
- MR Yoda Saber
...and a lot more.

I'm also interested in becoming a member of the 501st as a stormtrooper...except I do not own a suit of armor yet. So much to collect...so little space...so little money...so little time...sigh!

As for your R2 unit, you can get some ready made parts here rather than custom made ones.

A kuali for the head, the blue plastic barrel for the body ;D and the R/C unit from Thomas at Atria!

Good to see you here. Malaysia could most certainly use its own R2-D2. Need help I'm sure the many experts around will render aid where possible...

I'm a fellow enthusiast when it comes to life-size props. I did a lot of research on the R2 unit but sadly didn't know where to begin building one. Maybe you can point me in the right direstion and get me started?

I'm also trying to get the front panel of the 1:1 Han In Carbonite block, but the only guy I know who make a decent front panel (in the US) is not replying my emails...

Maybe you can start an R2 tutorial here, from a Malaysian perspective...
