I'll let Douglas address the sink pipe location as I myself don't know where to get them.
As for the DV saber hilt, the correct measurement is actually 11.25 inch from end to end. Its' exactly 10 inches without the emitter shroud, so you'll need at least a 12" pipe to begin with.
If you goto my next presentation I can let you measure the actual MPP flashgun used to make DV's lightsaber for ANH & ESB.

If you have read my earlier message in page 1, the location of the shop is at 2nd Floor in Atria, Damansara Jaya.
Smaller pipes are not a problem. I have used a 1.25" steel pipe (exhaust pipe) to make Darth Vader's lightsaber before. Make sure to have it cut to lenght at the shop first as it is very hard and you need a rotary saw to cut it.
BTW, the brand of the water trap I got is "Rubine" from Italy at about RM 35.00

Yeah! My saber blade material has just arrived today (polyethylene and polypropylene tube).
There is enough material now to make 8 blades!
Now, waiting for the final two material. The EL cable and generator and the polycarbonate tube ( can use acrylic tube as a temp.)

I'm basically gonna just get the basic parts and then try out whatever looks cool and is available... Marcus here is pretty adamant about his Vader one.. BTW, I'm wondering if I should invest in any particular tools, 'cos I'm definitely planning on making more sabers in the future... Any tips guys?

Roger that! ;D Hmm... Well, I guess that means back to the drawing board eh? Because the instructions over at "The Yellow Box" Saber Style 6 (Which looks something like Vader's saber btw) starts with a 1.5"x8.5" tube. Then the "shroud"/emitter piece thingy adds another 2-3" i think. So, overall length is the same.
Oh yeah, when is your next presentation SaberMaster? We'll definately try to be there!
Thanks Douglas. I'll try finding that place since I'm not very familiar with the PJ/Damansara area...

BTW, I'm wondering if I should invest in any particular tools, 'cos I'm definitely planning on making more sabers in the future... Any tips guys? I made 5 sabers over the last few weeks with only one piece of specialised equipment: a saw that can pilot and cut at various angles. Cost me RM250. My other tools are just your plain old everyday tools like power drill, hack saw, an assortment of hand tools like hammer, chisels, screwdrivers etc.
I've been meaning to get some more specialised tools like a dremel drill, hot air gun(made in China version), and a metal vise.
However, the most powerful and useful tool you can utilise is your brain. Nothing beats resourcefulness and ingenuity.

Oh yeah, when is your next presentation SaberMaster? We'll definately try to be there! I'll probably do a presentation after the Cinemaonline screening on Monday May 23, although I'm not sure exactly what time it will be. I'll keep you informed as soon as I can confirm the time.

Well, now that you mentioned it, the tool that I used most is the Black & Decker RTX-1. It is a rotary tool just like the dremel but better and cheaper and it can make use of most of Dremel's accessories.
Other tools would be your usual screwdrivers, pliers, soldering iron (I do electronics) and a nice pillow (need to sleep).

... and a nice pillow (need to sleep). Yeah I agree. The pillow is most certainly the *MOST* important tool. (Lets us dream about what we're gonna do with our "sabers") Could you post some instructions on how to make the "blades" once you're done and where we might get the materials for it? Would be really interesting to have "working" sabers with lightup blades and all. Oh, and how much do they cost, typically? Hehe, thanks again. Much to ponder, I have...
