Thanks for sharing your MARA Junior Science College, Taiping pics with us my friend. I'm sure the students has thoroughly enjoyed your Costumes and Armored Prop sharing.
They even got to try some of the props and costumes on display!
At last we get to see your Raja Maniaka costume prop and your SUPERBLY MADE Samurai Armor prop being worn outside your ANIKE and your house.

Good to see you merging your interest with education, and using your costume and props as educational tools!
Keep it up!

I hope I can introduce costuming as a means of self-expression... Besides, we need more costumers out there! So, why not start young? Anyway, these kids enjoyed playing with the costumes, but I doubt the majority of them got the message!
Costuming is still very new in Malaysia, and I hope that MSFF in general, and the 501st & Rebel Legion, and other costuming groups out there will continue the struggle...
As many of us have found out, making costumes and props is one thing, wearing them in public (while keeping in character) is another!

Again, kudos to you for introducing the costuming interest to a new audience. But you're right, most kids would just goof around in costume but they won't think its something serious to get into.
They fail to understand that costume & prop making, when done professionally, is a multi-billion dollar industry. I can only imagine what ILM, Paramount, Universal, and all the other studio pay their costume & prop makers. As many of us have found out, making costumes and props is one thing, wearing them in public (while keeping in character) is another! Usually the people making the costume are not the same people wearing them, because they are two totally different area of interest. However since not that many people in Malaysia is willing to pay someone for making a costume for them, and there're not that many serious prop makers locally, costumers & collectors have no choice but to become craftsmen/women as well

Hey Red royalguard, Its a great thing you did. On self expression, I think Malaysian are shy generally because of the custom and the way they were brought up. Most people are afraid of expressing themself because of criticism from other peers.

Yes you're absolutely right Jadenlee. Malaysians has a very very bad habit of putting other people down, instead of encouraging them. I work in a school and I see this everyday. I myself have also be constantly picked on and put down by others because I like to do things differently. All this is done out of jealousy. or insecurity.
But those of us who persevere regardless of the negativity around us will triumph in the end

Well, for all it's worth, it may take some time for Malaysians to catch up with costuming... And given the current attitude of Malaysians towards those which they deem "STRANGE" makes it even worse!
Some of the students were genuinely interested to put on the costumes, but were discouraged by their peers! Some even wanted to take pics with me (in costume) but dropped the idea because they were afraid to be rediculed... (Don't they know it's NOT that easy to get a pic taken with an Imperial Royal Guard? )
Master Plo is right, if only they knew how much the designers & craftsmen at ILM, Universal, Weta Workshop - heck - even McFarlane, get paid for their ART, I'm sure MANY Malaysians would jump on the bandwagon! ;D
Yes, usually the people wearing the costumes and those making them are different, and due to the circumstances in Malaysia, the collectors/costumers are FORCED to become craftsmen as well! But I don't find it strange, because I've been doing this since Form 3!
The good news is, I might get a chance to spread the word in the northern MRSMs soon... Apparently MRSM Balik Pulau in Penang has yet to commence on their Type I programme!
