Anyone else caught this spin-off telemovie? Apparently an attempt to start a new B5 universe series but unsuccessful.
Somewhat interesting mix of inter-species crew on a haunted ship had promise but I think the plot with some mysterious all-powerful unknown enemy (again) kinda killed it.

It's been shown a few times on HBO right? Didn't think it was that bad, it certainly held promise.. a smaller, tighter crew, a "haunted" ship ;D plus the always welcomed appearances by G'kar...

Ya, it was shown on HBO. Ship and crew had promise, interesting interspecies characters. But I think the plot killed it... too much of all-powerful mysterious enemy like re-hashing the original Babylon 5 plot with The Shadows.

I lost all interest after finding out how the ship fired it weapons. If you haven's seen it, the weapons officer goes into a special room and is immersed in a projection of the battle. To fire weapons she has to punch and kick at the enemy ships

any sci-fi or fantasy story cannot run too far away from the concept of mysterious all powerful unknown enemy. it's a universal theme of good vs evil. DS9 had it in the form of the Dominion. Enterprise had it in the form of the timeline manipulator. B5 had it in the form of the Shadows. SW had it in the form of Palpatine and the Siths. LOTR has it in the form of Sauron. Stargate has the G'ould.
if it isn't about fighting some common enemy, then it's politics and civil unrest. what else themes are greater than these ?
if not then we'd just be stuck with teeny romances, illicit affairs, family bickering and other lowly drama. yucks. give me mysterious all powerful unknown enemy any day. every other theme will fall into place some how.

I guess the problem was due to JMS writing everything. There wasn't enough variety in the way he told the story. Crusade did have promise but it didn't take off.
