No one actually made a mention of just how many movies will be made. My gut feel is that they will skip the first and last book and make a total of 5 films IF and only IF tLtW and the Wardrobe was a commercial success.
There is a good chance for it to happen. Quite a number of us were brought up reading it, so we may feel a bit of nostalgia for the whole thing. The trailer as seen in RotS was very cool even if the SFX-CGI does seem clunky/rough in certain shots which I hope will be corrected before the official release. The creatures, armour, weapons look magnificient (CHEERS madly for WETA)... costumes look promising. And Aslan... I am rather happy they managed to make him look good without all the cheesey effects I had feared.
Another reason why tLtW and the Wardrobe may take off is that Christian groups around the States have been really really supportive of the whole endeavour. If they come out in force for this movie... it will almost be like the Passion of Christ except soooo soooo much more family-friendly.
Personally, I'm more interested in the actual story itself and character development rather than attempting to find religious connotation every 10 pages. If that sort of thinking takes the 'soul' out of the books as some alleged... too bad.
Edit: Oh dear... now I see why my first post looked funny... tLthingyW... *laughs* The forum thought I was trying to be obscene... thingy indeed... ;D

Just curious... does anyone here know WHEN the movie will be out? I know that in the States, it is slotted to premiere on 9th December; Singapore - 22nd Dec; Australia - 26th Dec.
Do we follow the States' schedule because of our rampant piracy problem or we have to sulk for a while till almost everyone around the world have seen it?

anyway, they need to slot it abt 2 weeks AFTER HP4 otherwise... That is sooo true. The last thing they want is to be trashed by HP. And they have to time it just right for Christmas.

To make u all set this straight... This movie is from a series by C.S. Lewis...an epic by itself....not some weird combo of TLOTR and Harry Potter...I'll kick your sorry asses if u ever thought it was.....
it's the second book of the series and it is about these four kids and how they became so deeply entangled in the history of a world called narnia.
Narnia was created by aslan (a lion) and at the childrens time it was controlled by a witch.
These kids travel to that world by the means of a magic cupboard are to save Narnia from the witch.

To make u all set this straight... This movie is from a series by C.S. Lewis...an epic by itself....not some weird combo of TLOTR and Harry Potter...I'll kick your sorry asses if u ever thought it was...... Ah, I think whoever who read the books would have a pretty good idea that it is not LotR or HP because the styles of writing. Don't think any arse kicking is really necessary. Just because C.S Lewis is J.R.R Tolkien's closest friend (with other Inklings) doesn't mean that they even talking about the same thing in their books though they did publish it roughly the same period. (Lewis got his book out while Tolkien was still lovingly polishing his for another 16 years or so. I am fairly rusty with dates.) Different worlds, different feel and most definately targetted at very different crowds. One is inspired by the bible and the other is was partly inspired by the horrors of the trench warfare of WW1 and the general living conditions, his well-documented love of languages and perhaps strangely enough by a line, "In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit". For myself, I am not comparing Lewis or Tolkien's work... that would do them a great unjustice. Each has its own strength and weaknesses. What I AM comparing is the recent love affair by the Hollywood types have on the formerly much maligned fantasy genre and how they planned bring to cinematic life, prime examples of that genre and how true they would remain to the books, to the delight of the most nit-picking die-hard fans. Then there are matters such as costumes, SFX, CGI, cinematography etc. There are a lot of generalised similarities... and if you are a fan, you can't help but to compare for instance the astounding scenery of LotR with Narnia's because they are filmed in the same country just different areas! I heard CoN was filmed in less picturesque areas and therefore have to rely a little more on CGI. So, yes... CoN as a series of books is as different to LotR and HP as heaven and earth. But the filmmaking of Narnia may have very well gone through the same processes as previous fantasy films and they would have learned from the mistakes and successes and not to mention to capitalise on the CGI engine and/or recent technological advances. I don't really see a problem in judging all of these films together. I would classify them as a genre in film-making. They are basically born from the same thing - a much cherished work of fiction by a popular author, they involve around the same themes of good over evil, friendship, mythological creatures, finally brought to live because of the technological advances, fanatical fan bases, devoted directors, and I can go on and on till my face turns blue.

I have a feeling that you won't really see a movie set per se. Principal filming for tLtW and the Wardrobe is over... in fact they have been selling props in a nearby airfield recently I think. *drools at the thought* I am not entirely sure where they would do their post-production work. But who knows... maybe they might start work on Prince Caspian. (Whatever happened to the Boy and his Horse?!!?) www.theonelion.net/ has some site reports, maybe you guys can pinpoint the locations down a bit more?
