Yeah...almost forgot...
I've always been interested in scifi. Whether it be movies, literature, computer games, scifi is my preferred genre. Interestingly enough, the first SW movie I saw was ROTJ, followed by ANH and then ESB. both of those were on TV, but I did catch ROTJ on the big screen in London, where i was living at the time, and ep4 & 5 on the big screen in the US when it was re-released in theatres with those digital "enhancements".
I'm also a bit of a star trek otaku, although the dryness of the star trek universe gets me sometimes. Oddly enough, the only series I watched all episodes of is Voyager. I even saw seasons 1-3, so 7 of 9 had nothing to do with my devotion to the series. Well, she does, actually. Jeri Ryan is actually not a bad actress at all.
I do, however, prefer non-franchise scifi. For the longest time, I loved the heck out of Blade Runner, and was considering cosplaying as Deckard for a while. However Deckard's gun in the movie is difficult to get hold of. I've seen all the usual scifi movies, Russian scifi, and even have a copy of Dark Star, the infamous movie where John Carpenter slapped a pair of feet and eyes on a beach ball and called it an alien.
As for the living historian bit, Font and I are uniform collectors, and we like to play dress up with some of our uniforms. Not all, though, as most of them are pristine and some even have depot tags still attached. I have close to 50 sets (jacket and pants are considered a 'set') and about 100 individual pieces.
My next aim is to get a costume for a scifi series. SW for sure; I'll just go the imperial officer route. But also a costume not seen regularly or at all in Malaysia. Keep an eye open for that!
