Hmmm... Joining the 501st sounds interesting... Although I'm not a die-hard fan of SW, but I dig getting into (and parading) armour... Can anyone please provide me with the details as to how does one get 'recuited' into the 501st? Earendil, please check out ALL the informative threads that I've posted in this section of the forums to address your questions :

You know... ever since young I've noticed that the bad henchmen "footsoldiers" of the Empire get cooler-looking costumes than their Rebel counterparts.
Part of me rationalized that it was probably 'cos the Empire had lots of money to spend dressing up their minions, or just that they simply were strict on the ethics of dressing (like the Germans of WWII).

The Empire have waaaaaaaaaay more soldiers to dress, and way more categories of soliders to dress, so they buy in bulk and get the bulk discount price ;D
And yes, the Empire have waaaaaaaaay more resources and funds then the rebels, and they rule with an iron fist so they can get things done for nothing.
Just look at a real life comparison: American forces vs Taliban/Al Queda militiamen.

The Empire trains different units for different tasks. The rebels recruit soldiers that are expected to take care of all aspects of fighting the Empire. Well, ground and spaceship-to-spaceship battles, at least

In reply to JDream the German has less strict dress code the let say the American or Britz. Many of the officer and NCO wear personal purchase or tailor made unis. To found out more just contact me and i can as a Malaysia would say "story you".
