Article I - Club Mission The 501st Legion of Imperial Stormtroopers (aka the Legion aka 501st) is a Star Wars fan club celebrating the movies using costumes and props, in particular those of the stormtrooper characters and their various incarnations. The Legion is a not-for-profit club formed for the express purpose of bringing together costume enthusiasts and giving them a collective identity within which to operate. The Legion's aims are to celebrate the Star Wars movies through the wearing of costumes, to promote the quality and improvement of costumes and props, and most importantly to contribute to the local community through charity and volunteer work. We the members of the 501st hold no rights to these characters and recognize it is a privilege to wear these costumes. We also acknowledge that while in costume we represent these movies and as such accept the responsibility to behave professionally and civilly while in public.
Article II - Membership The 501st Legion is an inclusive, equal-opportunity fan club and will not tolerate discrimination on the grounds of sex, race, or religion. The only requirement for membership is "ownership" of a costume celebrating the Imperial characters from the Star Wars films or its expanded universe.
Upon admission, members are assigned a unique four-digit identification number following in the tradition of the stormtrooper character, TK421, mentioned in A New Hope. Preceding this number is a two-character prefix code denoting the costume of the member. The prefix codes and what costumes they identify are listed below. Members owning more than one costume still have only one identification number but are referred to using whatever prefix codes are applicable. Identification numbers will be maintained by the Legion Membership Officer and are permanently assigned. If members convert to inactive status, their numbers will be retired until such time as the member returns to active status.
Members not wishing affiliation with their geographical home Garrison may elect to have an official affiliation with no Garrison, listed as ‘NONE’. Members with an affiliation of Garrison NONE will be report directly to the Legion Command staff. Disciplinary procedures may still be filed by any Garrison command staff if problems arise.
Persons under the age of 18 are not allowed as listed members of the 501st Legion club. The 501st claims no responsibility for minors at events that are hosted or attended by its members.
The Fighting 501st Legion is the premiere organized group for people who own and proudly wear the costumes of the stormtroopers (and other imperial characters) from the Star Wars movies. We particpate in all sorts of activites, including but not limited to attending Volunteer Charity and Fund Raising Events and 'trooping' at Conventions.
SO NOW THAT YOU KNOW, DO YOU REALLY WANT TO JOIN??
If you own a suit of stormtrooper armor of any kind and would like to enlist, just follow the steps below. All you need is a suit of armor (or other approved imperial costume) to join - there are no fees, no requirements. This is just a fun, non-profit gathering of fans honoring the characters of George Lucas' wonderful imagination. This page is dedicated to him and to his vision.
For further information regarding our club mission, please read Article 1 of the Club charter.
STEP ONE : Do you qualify for membership??
Are you at least 18 years old?? Do you own a professional quality Star Wars costume ? Costume can be Imperial, Bounty Hunters, Denizens of the Empire or other "bad guy" costume. Rebel costumers should join the Rebel Legion, our sister organization. (Please REFER to the 17 QUALIFYING CATEGORIES that I've posted in my previous reply) For further information regarding our club membership qualifications, please read Article 2 of the Club charter.
STEP TWO : Fill out the 501st Legion Application Form to apply for membership.
With the exception of the information you deem 'public' which will be posted on your "member" page (click here to see the Legion Founder - Albin Johnson's record for an example of 'private' versus 'public' information), all information submitted will be kept confidential and will be used only for 501st Legion registration purposes. Information obtained by the Rebel scum (through search engines) is still under investigation.
You will need to determine what ID number you want. Your ID number can be anything from 0000-9999. The prefix will depend on your costume . TK-#### would be a stormtrooper. Check the database or our full roster listing of current IDs in use for available numbers before selecting your top 5 choices. For further information regarding our club costume prefix designations, please read Article 2 of the Club charter.
STEP THREE : Prepare your imperial identification pictures
Upon submission of your application, the 501st Legion Membership Team will be made aware of your request to join. A membership officer, most likely your Garrison Membership Liaison, will contact you to verify your qualifications (click here to see the 501st Legion Garrison Listing with CO, XO and GML assignments), and will most likely ask for pictures of you in your imperial gear for validation.
We will need two pictures of you, ALONE, with a PLAIN BACKGROUND, one with your helmet on and one with your helmet off. This picture will not only serve as your verification for the membership officer, but will be edited and placed within an imperial frame, for eventual posting to the Legion Website (click here to see the Legion Founder - Albin Johnson's record for an example of what your pictures will end up looking like). For further information regarding our club oragnization , please read Article 3 of the Club charter.
STEP FOUR : Wait for communication from the 501st LMO, 0895, Michael Washko
After communication has terminated between yourself and your GML, that GML will advise the LMO of their findings.
If your application is approved, you will receive an email confirmation to that effect, at which time you will get your TKID assignment and be approved (only done by the LMO) and your record is marked is 'ACTIVE' in the Empires database, which auto-generates a webpage on our site under the approprate costumes that have been validated (please refer to the 501st Legion Members Area for reference).
If you are not validated for membership, your record will be deleted from our database and your enlistment information will be sent to the Rebel Command for enlistment in a lesser organization (just kidding -- your record does get deleted from our database but we would never give the Rebels ANY information!
PLEASE NOTE: This process should take only a week BUT it can take up to three weeks!
STEP FIVE : Start 'TROOPING'!!
Your GML will be able to let you know how to find out about local events so you can get out there and make the Empire proud!
Hi all, im new here.. This is GREAT! actually the 1st reason i registered here was to bring up this topic, about setting up a Malaysia Outpost of the 501st Legion. Ive already came out with some Logo designs. Im a graphic designer, so if this came true, ill be delighted to volunteer for any design job. I was there on the 23rd fan event as 'short vader' n what i saw on tht day was awesome. Im planning to get myself a STrooper kit later next month. The name would be Malaysia&Brunei Outpost or somethin more creative? i dunno..we cant straightforwardly form a Garrison here, since we may not have enuff memebrs, unless we try to unite iwth the Singapore Outpost & Philipine Outpost, then perhaps we could form sort of l ike a 'SouthEast Asia Garrison'. I believe we can make this happen..we just need more ppl to volunteer, a simple website n organise a 501st event at least once a year. We could make our official merchandise to gain memberships (official 501st mercahndise should not be sold/distribute to non-members) like T-shirts, stickers..etc. SO, whos gonna start this first? ill be a happy volunteer..
Not to sound nationalistic or anything, but are we allowed to combine outposts from 2 different countries? It just doesn't sound right, plus we might run into problems should either party have their own fan base and wants to have their own organization. No offense to any Brunei fans ok... Just putting in my .02
I agree with triplesaber with his idea of a SEA garrison, it sounds more plausible, plus it would comply with the 501st charter, I guess.
triplesaber, maybe you can post some of your outpost logo design. Im sure a lot of people have ideas, but not everyone would be talented enough in graphic designing as others (like myself... ). It would be good if we can conceptualise and come up with a logo from a designer...
i have the logo here with me, but i DUNNO HOW to post it here, can someone teach me? thnsk
about the combining Outposts, yes, it can be done, to form a Garrison, we must have at least 25 members, an Outpost needs only a min of 1 member! So, a Garrison is usually formed by combining diff outposts together, to represent a larger part of one specific geographical area (in our case, ASEAN). This newly formed garrison will be put on trial for 1 year, to see if it can stand alone succesfully. We'll have elections to select the leader guys, n must have a fully functionally death star..pardon, fully functionally website, and acively organise non-profit events.
