The Selangor Federal Territory & Plastic Modellers Society will be bringing another model kit building skills workshop about Building from Scratch this Sunday 2 December from 2pm to 4pm at the MySciFiFan Outpost, Cineleisure Damansara. Scratchbuilding used by modellers to enhance, add or correct details of their models when the kit details out of the box is not good or accurate enough. Scratchbuilding involves usage of materials in and out of the box, which can be as simple as adding bits of scrap plastic, or as complex as adding self shaped metal fixtures. Creating working panels, latches, etc. is not unheard of by scratchbuilders. If there's no commercial scale model of a certain subject, say a plane or Gundam kit, a modeller with a good set of drawings and research can actually scratchbuild the entire subject in scale. There is no charge to participate in SFTPMS workshops. Participants may wish to take the opportunity to get lunch at the Outpost prior to the workshop.
