Darth Nihilus costume project

I think I'll go with making my own mask,as it's cheaper. Wont know if the eBay mask will even fit me.

The change from frayed to non frayed was to make the job of rendering the cape in 3d easier. And it also makes it easier to make in real life,heheh.

Cool... never really had an exotic EU Sith character (in my understanding) here in our local 501st Legion before.

I'm just wondering... I didn't see any eyes or eyeholes in that white mask... so how exactly does the costumer see around? Smoked lenses?

Umm,from what I've read,they use a black opaque see through cloth that goes over their face.

Thanks to Red Royal Guard & Sith overlord, :oI didn't realize that flagship eclipse website has got so many resources for costumes of KOTOR characters. Being a big KOTOR fan myself, I might consider doing one of the costume later when I've finished my Jedi cape, provided I could find and assemble all the parts .

Arrgh.... the dark side is really strong and hard to resist.

The only problem I have at the moment is the mask..how do I make it? A lot of the Nihilus masks are made from resin/silicone rubber,but I dont know whether Malaysia has any places that can make it. Any ideas on how and where I can make the mask?

Firstly, let's rule out fibreglass because of the costs involved and instead FOCUS on using a Plastic Hockey Mask, like this example below :



as the BASE of your Darth Nihilus mask. Plastic is relatively easier to cut into shape compared to fibreglass, which involved special craftsmen tools. After you have obtained the shape (refer to the pictures of a well made Darth Nihilus Mask prop after this), you can use either Paper Clay or Paper Mache to build up the shape of Darth Nihilus' face. Depending how good you are in sculpting, you can use Model Kit Putty to sculpt the metallic looking forehead ornament on the Darth Nihilus mask.

Please STUDY the pictures of this Darth Nihilus mask prop carefully before you commence your project. Yes this TOP NOTCH Darth Nihilus Mask was made from Strong Impact resistant PolyUrethane Plastic and was SOLD in eBay back on 4 March 2007 for US$200.
