Away Mission to Jakarta for Star Trek IMAX

Good news! Our Indonesia Trekkies counterparts have invited us to join them at the Star Trek movie in IMAX!

Despite the new Star Trek movie is late by a month to be shown in Indonesia, we now have a chance to watch it in IMAX! (of course, watching the movie is secondary, but an opportunity to meet with our fellow counterparts at their home base!)

Three S'p Trekkies will be beaming down in starfleet uniforms to join our Indo-ST counterparts, we are taking the earliest JetStar flight to Jakarta on 14 Jun. Any M'sia Trekkies would like to beam over as well for the "First Contact" away mission to Jakarta?

Just to check Dr. EMH, was it in IMAX 3D? Or its just the normal format on a HUGE screen?

Like most Hollywood movies, Paramount Pictures produced Star Trek movie in traditional IMAX - i.e for 22m wide screen theatres. Using the larger 70mm film instead of the small 35mm film, we can even zoom in to see the fabric texture of the uniforms the actors are wearing!

The IMAX cinema at Indonesia Taman Mini can sit 800+ audience, even bigger than GVmax cinema in S'pore which can only sit 600+ audience.

Not many Hollywood movies are produced in IMAX-3D. Even lesses for IMAX-Dome (Eg: The IMAX-Dome in S'pore Sci Centre's Omni-Theartre shows mostly documentary movies only).
