This is the result of a small community being further fragmented by various factors, so people find less and less common subjects to discuss...
The platform is also rather unreliable, as I never get any notification of new posts or threads, even though I've set it to receive all new posts/threads. I just happen to check today and saw this thread very much by coincidence.
Maybe this forum should become an archive instead, if the cost of keeping it is not a burden.

Hi Fishyahoo, Haldir and Plo!
nice to see you and it's me again! (ok, it's been some light years...I know).
I think personally it'd be sad to shelve it (by whatver method that won't enable access by others) and would think the forum should still be open/available (look at me!) if like you said the cost of running it is not too much a burden? FYI I don't have Twitter, FB etc. account and don't intend to create any due to too many places to logins and trust issues etc....but hey that's just me I know almost everybody is on it).
I found this post also more or less by "coincidence" as I've just (re)started work on my RFT costume (my helmet is basically done and been dry-fitted; just need sanding, bolting, harness/chin strap and painting the black blast shield thingy).
Was just snooping around here to see whether there's any chance or luck of acquiring my DH-17 blaster... (been scouring Ebay for the Hasbro toy, to no avail; was thinking whether anyone might so happen to know where I can find one or knows someone that's selling it or any simple DYI recipe to follow...).
My aim is to get it ready by next year (in time for 35th Anniversary)....hope I can make it
Sorry if I've been hibernating for sooo long (lots of things happened in my life and work, dunno why suddenly I got a jolt to start continuing my RFT helmet.... maybe when I suddenly discovered that styrene can be cut simply just with scissors!!).
I agree that a lot of online users have moved to facebook & other social network site. Unless you have a lot of freetime. But personally I find that facebook post are too fast outdated for me because I'm really busy and rarely have time to check post and reply, by the time I'm free the post is already outdated by too many new post and many are not science fiction related.
I think this forum is good for serious scifi fan who wants to talk purely on science fiction stuff and can catch up on certain things/ details and can find the topic and still post a reply. At the same time, it also provides a lot of scifi information, because a lot of people do read the post whether or not they reply, so it actually generates interest here.
