(Well look at that whole title is in acronym form)
1. Do you guys have the soundtrack for TPM & AOTC?
2. How do you compare them to the OT's OSTs?
3. How do you compare the PT's actual movie score on the score track (edited to fit scenes and with visual cues) to the OT?

The PT OST's seem less motif ridden than the OT is (a creative decision taken by Lucas and William's to differentiate both trilogies). Because of this, I always take a little time in getting 'used to' the new music. Once I've listened to a PT OST a few times, I start to really enjoy the more subtle cues that both possess. In a way, the cues in the PT are more rewarding because of this. I'm still finding little details in TPM's score I really like.
Like anyone else who cares about these things, I was really unhappy with the way the music for the last 10 minutes or so of AOTC was taken from various cues from TPM (due to late editing and the addition of a sequence).
That being said, now I'm so used to hearing these cues in AOTC, it's not as big an issue as it once was. However, it did cheapen the initial experience of watching a film I'd been waiting 3 years to see on the opening day.

i feel it is unfair to judge Williams' efforts and the soundtracks because it uses cues from previous of his works on the OTs. its quite a paradox to me because he had to come up with original pieces based on his old compositions. like Anakin's Theme in TPM sountrack has undertones of The Imperial March. which i think is disturbing if you listen/watched it in the correct order (EpI->EpVI). and of course gave us one of the recent best SW scores ever, Duel of The Fates.
for AOTC, i don't realise any 'unorginality' in the scores. Across The Stars is still a very touching, sweeping, majestic and ( don't beat me up ) romantic score to me.

In another 10-20 years from now a new generation will be watching Star Wars in sequence of EpI to VI and will not notice any of the above.

John Williams is nothing short of a genius of film score composition. My above comment is directed wholly at George Lucas' insistance on late editing on AOTC. From what I've gathered, Williams had original cues for the ENTIRE movie, but due to Lucas' late edit and additional scene, some of this new music ended up being rejected because it didn't match the pacing of the new edit. In summation, I love Williams' music so much, it pains me to know that new material was sacrificed for 'streamlining' the movie. The music of the Star Wars movies is as dear to me as the visuals themselves. They give us all an emotional context to the otherwordly vistas portrayed in the films. I hope this time around, Lucas keeps ALL Williams' wonderful work for Revenge of the Sith intact.

The soundtrack for Revenge of The Sith will be released on May 3. but i'm sure everyone already knew that anyway I doubt if i'll be purchasing it until after I've watched the movie. Soundtrack track listings have been known to contain spoilers as well. Refer to the track Qui Gon's Noble End back on TPM's soundtrack.
