It looks like Anakin probable knew about the pregnancy. So maybe he was expecting 1 kid but not 2? Shouldn't the Force have told him anyway?
Luke wasn't exactly hiding either since he's using the Skywalker name. Yeah, he was waaaaay out there on Tatooine but wouldn't you check up on your home planet now and then?
