To forum video media experts here!
I need some urgent help to convert MOV video files into AVI and/or VCD playable files. Appreciate if someone can help with these conversions, say in exchange for a bunch of Star Wars fanfilms (which are the ones being converted).
LMK ASAP please. Converted films required by this Saturday 14 May.
Thansk.

I think I might be able to help. Real pity I didn't notice this thread sooner. I do a lot of video conversions at home.... Hmm.... Consult the Force I will... Let's see.. You want to convert MOV files to AVI.. I hope this is helpful for you: 1) I use a neat little program called TMPGEnc.. You can get it here: download.pegasys-inc.com/download_files/TMPGEnc-2.524.63.181-Free.zip I think you just have to extract ths whole folder, it'll be usable after that. Its shareware so you can use it up to 30 days for free.. 2) Next, go here and download this file: www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/qtreader_for_tmpgenc.cfmYou will need this so that TMPGEnc can read quicktime files. Just place the file into the main program folder and you're good to go! 3) Skip the wizard dialog box, and search for the file you want to convert into AVI in the "Video Source" box. 4) Go to File -> Output to File -> AVI, save the filename and whatever decoding you wish to use for video (Divx, Xvid etc) and audio (mp3, ogg etc) and save! The conversion process is pretty fast, and its quite a simple program to use.. MTFBWY

Well.... Alternatively, you can try a proggie called PocketDivxEncoder which you can find.... Here divx.ppccool.com/It's a one step process in that you just select what you're encoding for (i.e. PC Monitor) and then you just set the parameter (Like the bitrate and stuff) and then press encode. Oh and you can also queue stuff too.... So, you just set the parameters for all the files then do batch encoding ;D

Thanks guys for the info.
Whilst I could figure things out eventually, I'd prefer someone skilled in these technical media to undertake the conversions and spend my time instead on events and community promotions. So, if one of you could assist, I'd be most happy to meet up and provide the raw media files for conversion. We could then have a casual meetup later to enjoy these fan movies, particularly 'Revelations' which take place after ROTS.
Eagerly awaiting a kind volunteer to PM or e-mail on this shortly. Thanks.
