Managed to catch few minutes of it. Lucas did a very interesting note on the Jedi concept. The force concept really works. I just wish that he manage to explain more of how Buddhism influence in them. The FORCE, or 'Qi', exists, and it can do amazing things, but not to the extend of what a Jedi can do. For example a Tai Chi master can remain still even when being pushed by the combined force of many people, and he can repel that force and push back all the people pushing him. However, he can't send all those people falying across the room simply with a wave of his hand...
What do you wish to know? I've dwelt into ancient martial arts quite a bit while growing up and I may be able to enlighten you, my young grassoper...;D

I was a martial arts practioner a long time ago and the Force/Chi was apparently in use a lot.
Just a light touch on your opponent can cause great bruise marks. The physical contact is light amounting to no pain but the Force/chi that was transferred was the one causing the bruising!

Uhhh.... aren't we talking about the 'science' of Star Wars here and not the 'religion'? hahaha
Yeah, lightsabers are a scientific impossibility (bummer). I had one weird idea on how a saber might function though, but I don't know how scientifically sound it is. Basically, instead of generating light energy, why not say that it generates kinetic energy? The energy cell in the saber creates a field that excites the ions, or protons, or atoms, or whatever, in that field's limit (the length of the blade) and because of the intense vibrations, light and heat is generated allowing for a visible blade of the length of the field. The focusing crystal is what keeps the field at its limit and influences the light (basically absorbing all visible light except its color) and that would allow for lightsaber fights (since it is physical mass impacting with each other) and still generate enough energy to cut through stuff. That would allow for blaster bolt deflections too, since blaster bolts are basically superheated Tibanna gas (they should call it PLASMA bolts) and the mass of the blade can catch and deflect that.
Also, I think I read in one of the SW novels before that hand weapons are generally blasters (tibanna) and starship weapons are lasers. =) The sounds that you hear in SW are the sounds of the mechanisms travelling through the starship that fires it (the 'BLAT' sound from the X-Wing), impacts on shields (particle and ray shielding) and impacts on hull materials. Near misses can be characterized as the shield reacting to the light and heat as it flashes by and creating a short feedback sound.

Read in another forum and this fellow was saying that buddhism does not correctly describe jedi. Buddhist priest don't interfere with people's life or any worldly matters. The self defence and martial arts they learned are only to protect themselves. Wu Dang warriors are more appropriate to be used to describe jedi.
Who are Wu Dangs by the way?

Not sure about the 'non-interference' stance of Buddhism, but i do know that Buddhism teaches that all life is sacred, regardless of creatures big or small, or a person's past deeds. They will assist a bandit in trouble just as they would a good samarithan.
Wu Dang, if I remember correctly, used to be, and still is, the stronghold of Taoist Monks. Also the birthplace of the martial arts called weng shun kuen.
And yes they are more aggressive, and will interfere when they see injustice or bullying...
