That was a spectacular episode... as with ALL of Sci-Fi channel's Friday Night Firefight nowadays, this one gave me goosebumps. Awesome script, shocking character development, and I don't remember watching any TV shows with tac nukes going up like Chinese New Year firecrackers from the beginning of the episode to the end. - The Daedalus! I thought it was gonna be a Prometheus-class, but it's a totally new ship. The first of the Daedalus-class, it seems to be. Captained by Mitch Pileggi, even.
- Asgard aboard! Sounded like his name was Hermiod? Asgard technology (beaming tech) + Ancient technology (ZPM) + Earth technology (nukes and railguns) = kicka$$!!!!
- McKay needs to learn to use a gun, but that was so funny I hurt myself laughing so much.
- Lots of beautiful FX shots two of my favourites are the Daedalus landing on Atlantis, and the gang looking up at the shield bombardment. They're right. Teratons of destructive force, but it looks so pretty.
- Novak from Prometheus Unbound is back... I liked the continuity to SG-1 there. Still as shifty as ever, but no longer hiccuping when stressed out.
- I like the change in direction for Ford. I read hints of this half a year ago in a Francks interview, but I didn't guess this coming. Can't wait to see where the writers take this story thread.
All in all. I give this a 4 out of 5 stars. Why one short of full marks the way I liked it? Cause the interior of Atlantis is still not convincing enough for me to believe they're in an abandoned city the size of Manhattan.

Just watched The Siege episodes and i enjoyed it so much!!
It feels so much different that the earlier SG seasons.
But since i haven't followed Stargate series for so long, I was surprised to see all the technological advances SG/SGA/Earth has acquired.
Particularly the Daedalus, Asgard and ZPM. So the gap was really there for me. That little asgard who was with Novak was so cute. lol.
I was even more surprised and confused when Daedalus arrived so quickly. Did the Colonel not say that it would take the ship at least 4 days to arrive?
And i know this sounds silly, I thought it was strange that the Earthlings still fight using earth weapons. Would someone care to explain? (I really missed a lot of the newer SG seasons)
Can anyone recommend which main/climax episodes of SG series that i should watch in order to understand SG quickly?

I started back tracking myself after watching the seige episodes - awesome. I am going through the last 2 seasons of stargate sg1 to catch up. Of course, not all the episodes are worth watching so I use the episode guides on Gateworld to select which ones - especially where new technology is introduced eg earth's own 'star fighters' / f-302 or something like that.
