One of the things I loved about the call of duty series is the large scale battles in single player where big groups of allied and enemy NPC's fighting each other was fantastic. I also loved the fantastic scripted sequences and the feeling of chaos in the battles. It's makes the experience fantastic.
Are there any other first person shooters (On the PC and not just WW2 ones) that have:
large scale battles Lots of scripted sequences chaotic experience

Well... I can certainly recommend Star Wars Battlefront 2, which has huge scale ground and space based battles! Experience every big battle in the Star Wars universe, as if you were there yourself. Pilot vehicles like the AT-TE on Geonosis, the AT-AT on Hoth and the ARC-170 starfighter in the Battle of Coruscant. Plus! You get to play as a Star Wars hero in a battle like Yoda or the Emperor himself , depending on which side you choose. You can even play as Boba Fett or Chewbacca . Personally, I simply adore playing games where huge armies march into battle to fight another enemy army. Especially the types of battle like the D-Day invasion of Normandy.

Call of Duty 2 was out around october. Battlefront 2 was released on the same day as Star Wars Episode 3 DVD.

for pure mindless no brainer fun with tons of stuff to shoot at , play the Serious Sam series. its dumb. its fun.
Medal of Honour is the other WW2 game that I would recommend, thought its older than Call of Duty.
