ARGH! I was at work tonight! That really set the tone of the rest of the season... Locke's story. One of my favorites. You thought he was some sort of wilderness expert from the first few episodes, but by the time they've finished telling Locke's story you're like, "GET OUT OF HERE!" already. I agree.. I'm labelling that particular moment at the end when we see Locke for who he truly was before the fateful crash my "M Night Shymalan" moment It was amazing, how they completely misdirected the viewers by never revealing too much, instead relying on us to fill in the blanks (we see Locke in the office, behind his cubicle, seated.. we see Locke at the pantry, playing chess, also seated.. never occured for us to think outside-the-box [forgive the pun] that he might be seated for a reason) We still haven't seen Locke's full story, right? For one, we still don't know how he got to be in that wheelchair. The last Locke Flashback episode "Deus Ex Machina" showed how he was betrayed by the ones he loved, but IIRC he was still standing by his own volition at the end of it.. And I think we still don't know how Locke got to be SoOoOo good & deadly with knives..and how/why he amassed such a large collection of the hunting knives which he brought along on the plane (does one really need those knives to go on a spiritual walkabout?) Wait, was that set of knives even his, or was it something that was discovered amongst the wreckage? I can't remember.. And yes Master Plo, I'm around.. maybe I don't post as much, but I read the postings devotedly

Wait, was that set of knives even his, or was it something that was discovered amongst the wreckage? I can't remember.. A lot of people who are wheelchair-bound live very active lives, participating in all sorts of sporting activities from basketball to rock climbing. Sitting in a wheelchair learning how to throw a knife is all too easy...
Locke found that suitcase of knifes rather quickly, indicating he knew that they were there. Also, although a 'walkabout' is spiritual in nature, the dangers encountered are quite real, and survival skill is definitely a must.
However, it does seem strange that he'd bring so many knifes, because the last thing you wanna do is to lug that briefcase with you while on a walkabout....I guess we'll just have to wait and see...And yes Master Plo, I'm around.. maybe I don't post as much, but I read the postings devotedly Good to know you are still here among us. I didn't see you during our ROTS appearances, or were you there but I just didn't notice due to the crowd and our hectic schedule?

and how did that case of knives get past airport checkpoints. That was the first questiones asked when they saw all those knifes, and Locke answered, "I checked it in".

He checked the knives in. Which meant that he must have had permits for them to be transported over a commercial passenger flight...
... if he was telling the truth, that is.

I didn't know you needed permits to check in knifes. Its not like the knifes can pose a danger to the flight...I think you only need a permit to check in firearms, explosives and corrosive/toxic chemicals...
When I moved back from Kuala Lumpur to my hometown, I packed a 2 ft long machete in one of the boxes I checked in because I was going jungle trekking shortly after arriving in my hometown. Didn't have any problems at all...

I stand corrected. Thanks for the example, Pol.
So it was just Locke checking his knives in easy as that. Didn't need to smuggle it in, E-wing.
