The clash of swords, the grunts and cries of heavily armoured men charging and clambering over each other as if they were mindless insects, the deviousness of politicians and courtiers plotting and counter-plotting, the daring dos of pirates coasting down the Caribbean, the shocking effect of a well cast spell, zipping around on broomsticks or even exquisite ladies in their ethereal dresses and frocks, hurrying about their daily lives. Do such things interest you?
You are not alone. For years, fantasy and historical movies have captured our imagination and love with epics such as the Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter amongst others carving a special niche in our hearts as we cheer on our heroes to complete their tasks. But in your heart of hearts, don’t you just wish that you can just take a small part in that adventure?
We here at Annwyn certainly do. For many years we have been costumers and cosplayers across many genres and fandoms. Now we invite you to join us as we showcase some of our fantasy-movies based costumes and props that we have reproduced from movies we love in the MySciFiFan Outpost Hobby Centre & Café at Cineleisure Damansara from 16-18th November 2007. Entry is free for all.
Throughout the weekend, we would also be holding demos and talks on how to make costumes and to cosplay in them. The list of topics are as follows:
Saturday 17th November
2.00-3.00pm - Costume Armour 101, by M. Hanif
3.30-4.30pm - Metal-Working in Costumes, by Andrea Tan
Sunday 18th November
2.00-3.00pm - Being Jack Sparrow, by Jamie Chang / Allen Yap
3.30-4.30pm - Basic Sewing for Cosplay, by Winnie Lim
4.45-5.30pm - Costumers' Round-up -- Panel consisting of Speakers from both days
Do register your interest for the above-mentioned workshop sessions at your earliest convenience by e-mailing your name and contact number to costumes@outpost.com.my. There is a participation fee of RM15 per day which ensures a seat for the talks as well as a Rm10 Cash Voucher for Food & Drinks at the Outpost. Participants who register by Wednesday 14th Nov will only pay Rm25 for both days.
