Okay, I finally finished the dang book. Better than the previous book (which I found boring). The darkest of the series. Let's see how dark book 7 will be.
Too much kissing, IMO. Enough already and get on with the story! Yes, I know I'm 32 and this series is targeted for younger readers...still too much kissing.
SPOLERS AHEAD! STOP READING IF YOU DONT WANT TO SPOIL YOUR SURPRISE
- I dont think Snape is evil. He may not like anyone named Potter but he's not a Death Eater either. I'm not saying he's an angel, just not evil.
- Yes, I do think Snape is working to defeat Voldemort.
- I think Dumbledore will come back in the final book. How? I think Dumby has a Hocrux of his own (of course, that means he murdered someone...maybe a bad guy?) EDIT: On second thoughts, I dont think Dumby's coming back. Hocrux is an evil spell, so I dont think he would make one. Nope, he's bantha poo doo.
- Dumby trusts Snape, much to HP's annoyance, because I think Dumby and Snape made an Unbreakable Vow. Snape vowed to kill Dumbledore...part of the plan, folks.
- Draco Malfoy isn't evil. He's just a spoiled brat and a coward when it comes down to it.
- Who is RAB? I think it's Regulus Black.
- Luna Lovegood is the best sportscaster EVAH! ;D
- The end with Ginny and Harry was like a scene from Spiderman 2
There's more but it's Friday afternoon right now and I have to leave for the Friday prayers, so I'll stop here for now.

Oh gosh... he just went and listed every single thing that I wanted to say that I figured out. Now I run the risk of being labelled a copycat. Just kidding, folks. Didn't you notice how Snape was yelling "DON'T CALL ME A COWARD!"? That was because in his mind, it took more courage than he probably knew he had just to kill Dumbly-Dorrr (I really like Madame Maxime's way of saying it haha). Dumbledore might return, yes, but not to life I believe. Having said that, I believe that in order to defeat Lord Voldemort, Harry and Snape will somehow have to put aside their differences and work together. This will almost certainly require intervention on Dumbledore's part. Either in a message, or by returning. The latter is more certain, given the UNBELIEVABLE amount of phoenix references and Rowling's penchant for the dramatic. There may be more than one way to preserve life other than a Horcrux. The kissing parts were annoying, yes! Dumbledore gave his life for more than one reason. Not only to make sure that Snape is completely trusted by Voldemort, but also to ensure that Draco doesn't take that fatal step towards darkness by saving him. Another indication of it being planned by Dumbledore: The overheard conversation between D and S where D was telling off S that "You agreed to do it!". Yet another indication: Harry was already pulling back from the door and getting ready to kick some Death Eater ass. Why did Dumbledore freeze him for? Almost definitely Regulus Black. Rowling mentioned in her press conference somewhere that no more new characters would be introduced. Harry absolutely sucks as a magician. No talent whatsoever. No innovation, nothing except sheer grit and wit, lots and LOTS of luck, and talented friends to help him out. (Very Snape-ish here, but unfortunately if you look at it, it's true). E-Wing, the PREVIOUS book was thicker than this one!

Well you can't blame Harry that he sucks as a magician. He would be a normal, Hogwarts going and not that very adventurous boy if Voldemort hadn't attempted to kill Harry and give him a little of his charactheristics (I hope I wrote the right word)
Anyway, that is what some people say, RAB being Regulus Black, but don't you think it may be two person's name combined? The A in the RAB may not be a name and may just be an And. But I may also be wrong...

I agree that HP & Snape will work together to defeat Voldemort in Book 7 (and perhaps Snape will die in Book 7 as well)? About Dumby coming back....I don't know. In every "hero saga", the mentor has to die for the hero to realise his true potential. Dumby is Obi Wan to Harry's Luke Skywalker. Besides, JKR has killed major characters before (Cedric, Sirius Black) and they never came back. Okay, they were supporting characters but they were major supporting characters.
I just feel it would be a cop out if she were to bring back Dumby. Can't he give advise from his potrait? Maybe he'll come back as a ghost like Obi-wan? ("Harry! You must go to Dagobah and seek Yoda, the Master wizard who instructed me.... ;D)
Totally agree!
To protect Harry and like you said, it was part of the plan.
Yeah! This kid is the Chosen One?? Maybe they misread the prophecy...like some other wizards I know who lived in a galaxy far far away
Also, anyone here feel a bit sorry for Snape? Harry's father and his friends bullied him relentlessly. No wonder he grew up to be a jerk and hating anyone named Potter. Totally understandable.
And boring as well. Book 5 was my least favourite.

I do feel sorry for Snape. I believe that all of us at some point or another would somehow have endured abuse or at least condescension from people superior to us in some talent, or physical feature that they are blessed with that we do not have. And also at times, we might have done the same. Snape is actually a character that we can relate to a lot easier as opposed to Harry (come on, how many of us were actually orphaned by an uber-powerful wizard and therefore thirst for revenge?).
As for the mentor leaving so that the hero/protege can rise to his full potential, that goes all the way back to Moses actually... hehe. Sorry. I'm a Christian, can't help but give you biblical references. If you actually look at it, Dumbledore went through a somewhat similar (SOMEWHAT) that Christ did, in the sense of passing through a time of darkness alone but for a faithful disciple (Harry) and drinking of a 'cup' of pain. But I digress.
I've got a small interest in writing, and I can tell you now that what Rowling did to kill Dumbly-dorrr is known as the Cambrian method of storytelling. The mentor dying for the protege. Same as Obi-Wan. So yes, I say that Dumbledore returns, but not to life, exactly like Obi-Wan (But I really hope she's more creative than to make him come back as a spirit -_-). Cheers.
Edit: Actually, Luke totally sucked at first too! Now if you read the NJO books he's like the uber-Jedi warlord +1000. =D

I hope she won't go Star Wars on us. Because...y'know, it's been done I've never read the NJO books but I saw the cover for the latest entitled, The Swarm or something like that. It shows Luke shooting lightning bolts ! I thought that's a Dark Side ability?

Aha! Now... the discussion turns to Star Wars.
According to the ever 'gallant' (this is the adjective used for him in The Unifying Force) Kyle Katarn, the Force is not necessarily light nor dark, but it's our actions which dictate it so.
Also, it appears that the NJO is attempting to introduce a new idea to the Force. In the same series, a Jedi Master from the Old Republic said that there is no such thing as the Dark Side of the Force, only what we make of it. So I say it's generally okay for Luke to do that. Maybe he's trying to ionize some droids? Haha...
The Swarm, you say? I MUST GET IT!
Back to Harry Potter.

I don't feel that sorry for snape. He was a traitor. You think I can forgive someone that cuts off my right hand? I like writing too but you seem too like it too much. Cambrian???!!!
