Thank you (Saber)Master... We won't let you down Hmm, I didn't know that it could be that simple. Because almost all online resources point you to an extremely difficult but accurate hardware saber. Thanks and we hope we will remember to post pictures...

Hi there everyone. This is my first post here. I just found a really interesting vidcast done on the person behind saberology.com, who is not only a master lightsaber-smith, but is also a practising Jedi (!). Things to note with regards to his lightsaber: 1. No EL, he says it's not bright enough! Instead, he uses 1Watt Luxeons. 2. No polycarbonate: he complains that it flexes too much. Instead, he uses a more sturdier blade. Anybody know what it is? (maybe it's a solid polycarbonate blade) 3. He uses the custom LED driver that allows lights up and down gradually, and has the "clash and shimmer" effect. I've heard of this before, but can't remember where... Anyways, it's an interesting watch: stashbox.fromtheshadows.tv/box2.0.php/scratchbuild

Well, our local saber builder, Mr. Engineer also uses the Luxeon LED (3 watts!) to power his lightsaber.
The material that is more sturdier than polycarbonate tube would be a solid polycarbonate rod or maybe a solid acrylic rod (acrylic tube can shatter) with optic fibres running through its centre.

You're right, Douglas. But a few things did surprise me about the saberology lightsaber:
- Despite using a 1 Watt Luxeon, the thing was BRIGHT even compared to Mr. Engineer's 3 Watt. Maybe its the driver? (But then again, it might be because the whole film was rather dark ^_^)
- His collator looks interesting: it's like he stuck a solid chunk of acrylic/polycarbonate into the lightsaber to direct the light. OR that's just part of his "shock proofing".
How is your EL/Polycarbonate blade going, Douglas?
