Wa, the Google ads on this boards are quite 'smart'. We're discussing Star Wars Costuming so an ad for Star Wars costumes comes up: www.clicket.com/swgal/swgal.asp The first time I saw those costumes from that site I nearly died laughing....Wah ha ha ha ha ha! ROFLMAO! (Oops, I did it again )
Personally I wouldn't be CAUGHT DEAD in any of those costumes...I'd rather wrap myself in a piece of thick, brown colour cloth and pretend its a cloak ;DIn response to your question whether we are using the *cheap* looking Rubies Star Wars helmet, I don't think so. I personally know most of the Malaysian Star Wars fans who post here and they are pretty much a passionate and adventurous bunch - where in this context they are gonna go in Full Force with proper custom made costumes of their choice of Star Wars character (like yours truly here ) True, true, we have much better taste and have our reputation to worry about

LOL! Then there is still hope for those who don't measure up to the average Stormie height of 5' 10" and above! Well I'm about 5' 9" but due to my bulk I think I can make a rather impressive Storm Trooper
I'm offered a Stormy suit from a seller quite near to me but I'm still thinking it over as it's gonna set me back almost RM4,000, including shipping...also I don't plan on going to the gathering as a Stormy.
However it'd still be real cool to have a Stormy suit though....

Okay, seems you all have the true idea about SW Costuming. Frankly, I kinda have no problems with Rubies' non-Imperial/Bounty Hunter Helmets, Masks and some accesories but the rest leave little to desire. Now if only somewhere out there in the corners of Malaysia & Singapore we can find a Don Post Helmet for a reasonable price. About the 501st Legion, nope I'm not a member of the Outpost and will not be in the future due to some personal indifferent with the rep. When I next apply again to join the Legion ( and hope this time they DON'T loose my application again ), I'm taking the new offer and not be affliated with any Garrison. Make it easier anyway in the future when I further my studies in Canada ( hopefully!) I'm offered a Stormy suit from a seller quite near to me but I'm still thinking it over as it's gonna set me back almost RM4,000, including shipping...also I don't plan on going to the gathering as a Stormy. Hmm....one of my Padawan was bugging me the other day to buy his friend's Stormtrooper Armor, everything complete; but for the upteen time, I had to "scream" at him that I'm not interested in that Armor for a long time already ( I want Biker Scout). Had to be realistic anyway that I cannot wear it comfortably as too short at 1.5+m and too fat.

i want in too! ok, how much for it? Are you really sure onions, we are going for Star Wars costumes that will be 90% to 99% close to the actual suits worn in the OT and PreQuels. I know for sure that TheEdge is one really passionate Star Wars fans who is serious about becoming part of the MYSCIFIFAN STAR WARS COSTUMED CONTINGENT. As SaberMaster has said, once you're in there is no looking back as we are all going ALL the way.

Or you can CREATE your own UNIQUE, NEVER-SEEN-BEFORE Star Wars costume from objects you find, like how the original crew of ILM made the costumes for SW:ANH.
For example, take an old blanket, cut a hole in the middle and put over your head, make some huge metal clips(like those used to clip a pair of socks together. If you're not sure, go buy a pair of new socks, must be still in the platic bag) and seal the sides, or use strings to thread the sides together like how you do your shoe lace, then find an old shirt, pants & a pair of old booths, and drag them through the mud; or if you're good in painting add the weathering with paint.
Next find some old helmet or hat and modify it to look real weird, buy a pair of plastic goggles and paint and modify them with some weird electronic parts. Lastly make some kind of 'weapon' of your choice. Important thing is have fun and use your imagination
Start now and you'll have your costume well before the EP3 Premier ;D
