SPOILERS ALERT!!
*********
Just finished reading the book yesterday and I must say that JK Rowling has outdone herself. Definitely the darkest and most action packed of all the Potter books and it shows, especially with the body count that rises throughout the chapters. Some of the deaths were emotional while the other "off camera" deaths were kinda like... meh... especially when it comes to characters that have long been established in the earlier books. But the most satisfying chapter of the book deals with Snape's memories from the Pensieve. Praise the lord, Severus has been vindicated!!! I mean I've always believed that he was a good guy despite layin' the smackdown on Dumbledore... I knew it was part of some intricate plan and I was glad to be proven right. What Harry said in the epilogue really puts Snape in his place... probably the bravest man Harry knew.
Overall, it was a very fitting end to the Potter saga.

SPOILERS ALERT!!
*********
I was at Singapore Borders around 7.00am + to feel the atmosphere. I wanted to be there before 7.00 am but overslept. The first reaction was "so thin....", referring that the book is thinner than some of the previous ones. I heard several people muttering that reaction.
It took me about 10 hours to complete reading the book. Personally my feel is that the book does not surprise me much. The Polyjuice potion was overused. Some escapes really stretch the limit of credibility. Although there are many interesting parts, generally if it had not been the last book, I would have no problem putting the book down and reading it another day, unlike the earlier books which got me so engrossed that I could not put it down. Like everyone else, I like to find out who lived and who died and will Harry Potter survive? I thought the last chapter on their adult lives was unnecessary. I would have loved to have a chapter on what happen immediately after the defeat of Voldermort, what HP and gang did since for that year, they did not go to school. Did HP become an auror? A short chapter will do.
I got a book on Snape while browsing in KL's Borders. I did not doubt that Snape was a good guy but it was just interesting to see how this was explained/clarified. The part that Snape knew Lily as kids was a surprise to me.
I am reading the book the second time time, paying particular attention to what I consider "crucial" plots.

Hey guys, I really envy you guys to have finished reading HP book so fast, it seems to have a good ending. I haven't got the book yet, I went to Carrefour much later and was dissapointed that they have sold out the book, hope to get it from Borders, I've checked and they still have lots of stock.

I had also finished reading the "book" a few days ago, in 2 nights after finally convincing myself to read that *ahem* version I have ( was too broke last week to get my copy, especially that I wanted the Deluxe Hardcover Edition from Amazon.Com). Indeed, I have to agree that this book is so far might be the best and the story really keep me on my toes. I was crying when some of the characters died as had love them so much from the previous books. Now can't wait to read it again when I do get my copy (as soon as I have money and the book is in stock again) and probably too when the "next" book comes out which I understand might be more of information rather than story book?

Jaden, you might wanna try Popular bookstore. If you're a member (membership's only $10), you can buy the book at 25% discount. Not sure about Border's deal, though.
Haldir, that Deluxe Hardcover Edition looks awesome! Does it come with JK's sig printed in front? Kinokuniya give away the signed editions to the first 3 customers to line up at their store on launch day, not sure if this is the one.

Since Amazon.Com is sold out on it, if I can find the money soon I might just get it from Singapore's Border using my 25% Off + 10% Members Discount. It's now priced at SGD125.95. Will see how as I want to read the book again and probably in the US Version (my .pdf is UK I think)

Hey, Jaden, Have you gotten your book? Since the first week, most of the hypermarts in Klang Valley have fully sold out their copy of DH. You may have better luck moving to towns out of the Valley and big cities like JB and Georgetown. Borders do have their 20% discount on DH if you get another item at their stores. MPH and Times (and I presume Harris) Bookstores offer 20% discount on the book if you get another item from them. While if you hold a MPC card (MPH Reader's Circle and the kid's card which I can't remember the name) card, you get 25% off the book without the need to get another purchase. If you are reeeeeeeeaaly desperate for a 'cheap' buy... I heard that there are pirated issues for sale in independent stores now... RM60 per copy? Cheaper thinner paper and slightly off print but I guess it is Malaysia Boleh again in how our local Pirates will print anything that is worth anything.

Hi guys, Thanks for the advice, since I went to time square for HP movie I just bought the book at borders, I think they still got plenty of stock. 20% discount but need to get another book/magazine irrespective of value. It's quite ok for me since I can buy a mag for RM7+the book RM87.92.(original price RM109.9).

For those who have completed reading this last book and have the complete series of HP books, I strongly recommend reading again from the first book.
I had completed reading the first book (lost count how many times I had done that in the past) and on my second book. With the new knowledge, I read the book now with a different view, a much more interesting and enlightened view.
