Cool greetings from Nordic country

Hi everyone!

Now it did happen. MySciFiFan-boards are having member from far north. I do live on Finland were we are having a cold winter time right now. But very soon I have opportunity to get me into your fantastic land of Malaysia! Just two weeks to wait... And you know, waiting makes time going slowlier.

Been fan of Star Wars since first movie (ANH) came out from movietheatre back in 70's. Due several bad lucky cases, only sw-film I haven't seen on theatre is original version of The Empire Strikes Back. If I ever had timemachine, that will be the first thing to correct.

Classic scifi books has been my passion too. Hard to say is there any scifi genre what I haven't read. Maybe some latest fantasy books are quite unfamiliar to me. I do collect books. My bookshelfes are mainly now releated to universe of mr George Lucas. Like almost every cubicmetre of my appartment!

One of my passion is to be a member of costume-group 501st Legion. Been there for years and I do have three different movie accurate costumes:
-Imperial Officer uniform
-Blizzard Force Imperial Snowtrooper
-Sith Lord (Darth Maul)
Recently I have been more known with my snowtrooper costume. Hopely I can attach some pictures of my armor over here too.

All the scifi community around the world do have common interests. It's nice to meet people around the world and discuss with them. Internet makes this so easy. I still remember the times when I first had sneak peek into world of net. Year 1992 we had news-section filled with nerds around the world. Star Trek and Star Wars were big issues over there. We had no graphics, but browsers like Lynx were just so good way to access everywhere. It was goodbye to slowly BBS-systems when univercity had proper broadband connection. What future brings to us, we never kown. But resistant is futile.

Awesome photos of Nordic winter scenes! Really reminds me of my time spent in Canada. Very soon you'll be able to see palm trees everywhere instead of inside a glass house!

Unfortunately I won't be able to meet up with you due to the fact that I'm not located in Kuala Lumpur. However if visiting beautiful Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, (which is located in East Malaysia) is part of your travel itinerary, please do let me know and we can have another gathering over here.

This time my (first) visit to Malaysia will be limited to less than 24h to due of my tight flying schedule. I would love to see some day more of your country. Not just a few blocks of city.

It's indeed BIG climate change between our countries. Don't know how much you have heard about this winter weather all over on Europe, but we have suffered mostly very record-cold weather. Russia did have -40 C for weeks and yesterday the Poland has disaster as frozen exhibition hall did collapse killing 66 people. Sametime 12 iceskaters on Sweden did drop thru the iceformation and some of them died. Last week ice slippery road accident pushed a bus on Sweden to wreckage and lot of people were lost. We do have daily basis numbers of deaths by winter on tv-news. And we should be prepared to all of this...

Back to brighter things... Yes, my avatar is from ZZ Top. It's not me. To grow such a beard, it would take decades. I have once tried do so. But after long months and only some 7-9 cm beard, I shaved it away. It's easier to go into shop and buy fake beard.
Been imitating mr Lucas once for television. I don't know do I still have any pics left of this event. Hmmm... Oh, I found some:

I do have extensive collection of Star Wars fanfilms and would be happy to hear if any of such a things has been produced on Malaysia. If anyone has links to such a films, I would be more than happy! ;D

Well, ts, I hope you'll be able to adapt to the climate here. Depending on which part of Malaysia you will be staying, the temperature and humidity varies slightly, but noticeable.. Right now, where I'm staying - Ipoh valley, west of Semenanjung Malaysia - humidity is quite high. It's even very warm at night.

Oh? How generally the night and the specially evenings are on Malaysia? Are those much colder that sunny days? I understood the high humidity and rainy days per year are very common. I do suffer so dry air that it makes my skin to peel out as flakes... Not nice.
