Hey folks. Found the reference to this website this afternoon at the curve... when there was some sort of sci fi promotions. cool to have a local sci fi community going here. people whom i normally interact with are not sci fi fans. in fact, i think sci fi fans are very few here in malaysia. anyway, a bit of myself... have been a sci fi fan since... ooh first seeing star wars in the 70s... ah. now you know roughly how old i am. my favourite sci fi film of all time - bladerunner my favourite sci fi writer of all time - asimov current sci fi favourites - easily firefly / serenity and battlestar galactica (the new series). i also like lost & x-files - which have some sci fi elements. disappointed that lucas messed up the first star wars trilogy. related to this, I like comics (daredevil), anime (gundam!)... i maintain my blog at www.thefazz.com/mewhen i am not geeking around... i race karts. he he . check out my karting community website at my-kart.org, or go to www.my-kart.org/ciao fazz

Hi Fazz, a warm welcome! Good to have another person here who's seen the OT when they were released. There're not many of us of around from that era who still profess our love for Sci Fi. ;D
Good to know that our little outing at The Curve yielded (at least) one member
Like Wudious said, do check out and feel free to contribute regularly in our many threads. We don't get hundreds of posts per day like some other forums, but we pride ourselves on being a forum with quality postings, instead of having postings which are 99% rubbish.
But that doesn't mean we don't muck around, just that we know when to do it and where to do it.
Again, welcome, and hope you'll find our little corner in the Sci Fi galaxy to your liking.

Welcome Fazz!
Good to know you noticed the MySciFiFan bunting at The Curve. Did you meet the movie characters as well?

Folks - thanks for the warm welcome. LOL... not many of us actually saw the OT huh? Anyway... feels a little special to be one of the OT's... Welcome Fazz! Good to know you noticed the MySciFiFan bunting at The Curve. Did you meet the movie characters as well? Naah didn't get the chance to meet any of the characters. I was on the way and back from taking my kids to see Dead Man's chest. After the show, the kids were hungry and i had to rush them to find some food. Still did manage to see Worf fight the predator. Cool stuff. Anyway, any of you read any good scifi books lately? I have no idea what's good. Tried heinlein... but he does not seem to be my type of writer. will still try though.

I make mostly lightsabers. Here're some pics of my collection. I've made quite a few more since I posted those pics, but don't have time to update the pics yet...
My Lightsaber Collection
Click on the thumbnails for a larger pic and a description.
You can find tutorials everywhere online. Just google '[prop name here] tutorial', and you can find anything you want.
Of course, finding the parts to build the props is an entirely different matter. My collection is 4 years in the making, and its still nowhere near complete...
My current work in progress is the Vader ROTJ Saber. After almost 2 years I finally have almost all the parts for it. Once I'm done with the Vader ROTJ I'll start on the Vader Barbican Saber. There're still a lot of unknown/unconfirmed parts for the Barbican saber so it'll be another looong work in progress...

Oh GOOD, another forum member who have watched the Original STAR WARS Trilogy when it was first screened in the local Malaysian cinemas in the late 1970's and early 1980's.
As for me, I have watched STAR WARS : A NEW HOPE when it was first released in Cathay, Kuala Lumpur back in August 1978 and its re-release in September 1982.
Watched THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK on its first release back in 1 August 1981, also in Cathay, Kuala Lumpur. Bought some of the COOL Vintage STAR WARS figures that were on sale at the lobby. Suppose you got some of these yourself too?
As for the RETURN OF THE JEDI, watched it in Cathay, OUG back in 7 July 1983.
How about thefazz, where and when did you watch the Original STAR WARS Trilogy?
